Sorry if a re-post

This is why the Cowboys have not been in a Super Bowl since 1995. Was the Cowboys Executive Vice President and Director of Player Personnel sleep at the wheel when Parcells and Ireland drafted Ware, Spears, Canty, Burnett, Ratliff, James, Hatcher, and Newman from 2003-2006 going from 4-3 to 3-4? Parcells and Ireland got most of the players in the 2005 draft.

This is not anything new for the Cowboys and it is certainly not rocket science to move to a 3-4 defense that is flexible. Kevin Burnett was the coverage LB with speed to cover that allowed 4 man rush in a 3-4 Defense. Hatcher would replace Spears and Ratliff would go to the nose. They then rushed Ware and Ellis who converted from 4-3 LDE to LOLB having his first Pro Bowl season.

Why and what the heck is Stephen Jones talking about? Jerry the Dumbo GM Jones 2.0.

IMO this is going to be predominantly a four-man front with the RDE standing up and the LOLB (probably Jaylon) blitzing semi-regularly. I think we'll switch between two-gap and one-gap assignments for our DT's and I wouldn't sleep on a guy like Kyle Dugger or Xavier McKinney being selected to play as an undersized LB allowing us to play base defense more.

Lot of valid points, Agreed , the biggest proof is middle of the defense , Rod consistently ignored the DT position, Mccarthy and Nolan has shored up the middle with the DTs from Panthers. Now it wont be porous middle for running and also pocket can collapse so QBs wont be able to step up so easily. This would give a few precious seconds for the DEs to get there, if they can shore up the secondary we may have a decent defense , which can bail the offense in some situations ( with Turnovers, short fields )

MM and Nolan are not in charge of player personnel.

thats Stephen and WillM.

I’m sure they have input. I mean, our assistant HC isn’t even a real coach.

"scheme against offenses"

Whah? I thought "we do what we do"?!

So glad the coaching bozos are gone. McCarthy probably will have his own issues, but having a HC who doesn't exalt his stupidity into a strategic dogma will be a relief.

Ding Dong, the Red Menace is Gone!

Thanks Stephen but having Marinelli and Richard gone might help the defense all by itself! :lmao::thumbup: :muttley:

Just as I suspected. Looks like K'Lavon Chasson or any DE will not be targeted in the early rounds of this upcoming draft.

Imo regarding Chaisson it means just the opposite.
Chaisson is more of a pass rushing LB then a 4-3 DE.

Looks like a fluff say nothing piece.

i actually read it that he’s excited that the new coaches will coach and scheme to the particular opponent instead of do the same thing every week regardless of opponent weaknesses/tendencies and then act perplexed when we get out coached and lose to inferior talent....Like last set of losers did

You should look again.

Here's the very first ranking that I found:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ocks-2017-nfl-draft-top-100-prospect-rankings

Watt is ranked WELL ABOVE Charlton.
Or you should look at more than one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I looked at 4 at the time, and all had Taco above Watt.

However, the point is, you can't draft BPA because there is no real BPA. There are many different scouting reports w/ different rankings. I've seen several posters claim that we should just draft BPA, and name Taco as an example. Taco was BPA on many draft boards.

Now, personally, I didn't care for the pick and would've taken Watt.

Except our own.

On this we can agree.

By most at the time. Taco was rated anywhere from mid to late 1st round from what I saw. TJ was rated more in the late 1st early 2nd.

About the same with my recollection, although I don't think Taco was sub 20.
Taco in the 20s, TJ mid 20s- early 30s. Taco had the slight edge by most accounts.
