3rd WR was a big need too. We still are gonna draft DL/CB/S.
To me the backfield is just such a HUGE need. Like I said I'm in the minority as I just don't see the Lamb hype that others do.

People acting like our defense is trash now cause we need to replace elite pro bowlers BJones, Quinn & Heath. Marinelli & Richards are gone. That alone improves the defense.
Heath was average at best. I agree with the fact that Marinelli being gone helps us but you still would like to have solid players in the backfield

Isn’t it like any draft pick? If he turns out to be a star, will anybody care? And vice versa?

In 2014 after the worst defense in team history and after already taking 2 OLs in the past 3 first rounds, the Cowboys took yet another OL, BPA Zack Martin. Anybody have any problems with that?

Horrible pick. We just lost our best CB/ Safety and we go for glamour?

Your thoughts
I wanted CJ to fall. he didn't.

In the draft you draft for BPA within a tier. Ceedee was seen as the best WR in a historically deep WR class. He likely was exactly that...BPA in the remaining player pool.

In that case you take him. It's not even a question.

Byron Jones was average at best and can be replaced by a 4th round talent. There was nothing at all special about him.

And I hope you don't mean losing Heath was some big deal. He was one of the worst safeties in the league.

Drafting a position or side of the ball just for the sake of doing it to fill a need is not a strategy you want to go with.
Anyone who says Jones was average at best...doesn't know what they are talking about. Like...at all.

There’s a F ton of talented defensive players left (I just started a thread), I don’t think ANYONE expected CeeDee Lamb to fall in our lap, I’m sorry - I don’t care what your needs are - you don’t pass on A+ talent in the middle of the 1st especially when you really do need another WR. Gallup is now the #3 guy and this offense is as talented as any other offense in the league... no excuses.

To me the backfield is just such a HUGE need. Like I said I'm in the minority as I just don't see the Lamb hype that others do.

I think there's definitely a regional bias to Lamb both by fans and the front office. I'm not saying he can't be the best WR in the draft but this idea that it was some once in a lifetime miracle that he somehow made it to us is way overblown to me. For starters, 2 NFL organizations took WRs ahead of him so just because Dallas had him #6 on their board is just one teams' perspective.

My concern is if Lamb will even have the opportunities to justify his draft position. Dak had almost 5000 yards passing last year in going 8-8. Is Lamb replacing Cobb adding something substantial or just redistributing the yardage? Seems we often talk about the Cowboys needing to add guys who get their hands dirty-until the draft comes.

And yes, I wanted Chaisson and felt lucky that he made it to #17. I liked his ability and I liked him character wise. Was one of the youngest players in the draft but felt like one of the most mature and confident. He plays a premium position that we currently only have stop gap players at(A.Smith,Gregory) that would be difficult to trust with any long term deals. If Chaisson had been picked, I would have preferred trade down to take Ruiz but would have digested Lamb easier. Hope I'm wrong.

I had Jeudy as my top WR because I see him as more polished. I had Lamb right behind him. That beings said, I would have taken Jeudy in that slot as well. Both Lamb and Jeudy are elite talents in a very deep WR class. Ruggs, while taken first, is a speed guy, but not sure he's anywhere near the WR as Jeudy or Lamb. I would have taken Chaisson over Ruggs.

We lost to and were EMBARRASSED by theJets, NE, and Bills because of Def. Adding a WR that will take three seasons to develop will do nothing for this team to move forward.

Do you think a WR would have made a difference against LA in the playoffs in 2018?

Grade D so far.

While it is far too early, even for the draft since it still has two days left, I will submit this for your perusal. I'd suggest your grade was flavored with a huge amount of disappointment.

NFL Draft grades 2020: Live results & analysis for every pick in Round 1

17. Dallas Cowboys: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
  • Grade: A+
The Cowboys had other needs at cornerback and edge rusher, but Jerry Jones couldn’t resist loading up at wideout with a great value pick in Lamb. Dallas lost Randall Cobb, so they can plug in Lamb with Amari Cooper and rising star Michael Gallup. Lamb can be the Cowboys’ version of DeAndre Hopkins, an explosive field-stretcher and steady possession guy outside. At 6-1, 198 pounds, Lamb needed only 58 receptions to post 1,208 yards and 14 TDs in 13 games last season.

Lamb is the most advanced wide receiver prospect I've seen since we started grading college players six years ago. That's not to say he's the best, but the little things about the position he's got down pat.

To recap, your grade seems to not align with the people who grade for a living.

Hmmmm, I think I'll go with their opinion.

I wasn’t at all impressed with the defensive players available at 17. I was meh on the LSU kid...seems iffy...I liked the OU LB Murray a lot but LB in the first....gag.
Hoping Lamb can replace Cobb (upgrade) and Austin at KR....?
If we were drafting 10 spots higher or lower and went WR I might be upset.
