Horrible pick. We just lost our best CB/ Safety and we go for glamour?

Your thoughts
Drafts not over...…..surely there's a guy out there with blazing speed, country strong, and destroys everything he tackles......and he's outside the Boise area.

No worries mate! We have a QB everyone complains about not being able to hit wide open receivers, a WR who only shows up in half the games and that we just gave one of the largest contracts to, and let our best defensive players walk.

We’re good.

What stud corner/safety Did you see available? Their will be corners and Safties available at 51 today that are just as good as the one that were available last night at 17

We aren't one piece away on defense and a rookie corner wasn't going to come in and replace what Byron Jones brought to the table. If you have a mid first round pick and an elite player drops to you, you take that player. If you have an opportunity at a potential key player, you grab that player and then you fill in the rest of the pieces in FA or in later rounds in the draft

Would it have been better to take Xavier McKinney at 17 (who you can still get BTW) and pass up a better talent because of n
I agree defense is the biggest need but CeeDee Lamb was never expected to drop to us. There was just too much value in him to pass up. People that don't see this have not done their due diligence to scout all the talent out there. Going forward in the draft, the Cowboys must focus on defense.
You sir are the righted person, if you are true to your draft board you take the best person, Lamb is going to crush it and it won’t even be close

People acting like our defense is trash now cause we need to replace elite pro bowlers BJones, Quinn & Heath. Marinelli & Richards are gone. That alone improves the defense.

Secondary is pretty much as bad as you can get in the NFL. The issue also is long term.

Exactly. I love the pick. This offense is now deadly. There are plenty of great picks to be made, but obviously they are now pretty much obligated to go defense at both 51 and 82.

I think they’ll go either Curtis Weaver (DE) or Trevon Diggs (CB) at 51 and a player like Jeremy China (S) or Leki Fotu (DT) at 81.

Then the surest fire thing right now is “Captain” Morgan in the 4th. Not a secret that they absolutely love that kid.
I think deadly is an understatement, it’s gonna be ruthless

I'm not generally high on the BPA thing. If you don't have someone you want at a position you need at your spot, you should trade back. I have seen countless times where teams do BPA and just get overloaded at a position and waste the pick.

But man, that pick was such a no brainer it wasn't funny. There is a good chance in a year that he will be Dallas' best receiver. He is going to make everyone look better. Dak, Gallup, Cooper, Zeke and even the line because he is such a weapon. Having an offense that good will actually make the defense look better. Playing with a lead is much easier than playing from behind.

I believe Jerry when he says that he was rated #6 on their board. A lot of people had him top 10.

As another note, virtually every good defender had come off the board. Whomever was taken would have been a big reach. If Dallas took Chaisson there, I just have a feeling he would have been another in a long line of first round DE busts taken for need.

I'm really excited for next year right now. The offensive skilled positions are possibly the most stacked I have ever seen them.

The Defense is in bad shape with lots of needs. That is true. So one person, even if that person was elite, was not going to make a whole lot of difference.

Lamb, on the other hand, will make a HUGE difference on offense. So that's what you go with to my way of thinking. The best way to protect a below average defense is to score a lot of points.

Besides. Still a ton of draft left to try to find a starter or two on defense.

It’s a great Fantasy pick. It will sell jerseys and generate excitement for our follow the ball fans much like Jerry while our defense continues costing us games. #1 in Revenue

Hundreds of posts regarding the pick and you felt the need to create your own thread for the sake of being negative? CeeDee Lamb isn't just some wide receiver. Watch his highlight reels and imagine that's how he played every game of his collegiate career because that isn't far from the truth. He's an incredible talent and much better than simply picking some defensive player for the sake of drafting defense.
No one is disputing his talent . But we had much greater needs on defense.

We had the #1 offense last year. Where did it get us?

Adams the safety... trade your first

best safety this team has had since woody hung up the cleats

No way. Rookies are under the cheap for 4 years. Adams will want big bucks when his contract is up soon.

Nobody is more critical of the FO than me. But when you get a chance to draft a difference maker you do it despite need. IMO they drafted the biggest difference maker left on their board. Nice pick.

Coaching and a consistent pass rush matter for any secondary.

YOu are good at stating the obvious. Doesnt change the fact that our secondary is one of the worst in the NFL.

Huge leads would also help. But again, it doesnt change the fact.

We lost Jones and Heath in secondary but WR is a greater need. Ok then.., lol

Maybe Lamb can play defense too?
