It was the right pick given who was left on the board. He doesn't help our biggest weakness though and that is what is disappointing.

One could argue that improving the offense keeps the defense on the sideline

Who was on the board that we should have taken instead?

- there were no CBs left at the spot that had the value of Lamb (or the talent)

- I guess you can can argue we should have taken Chaisson, who has big upside, but the rest of the potential DL at that spot - Gross-Matos, etc? None are close to Lamb in terms of skill.

So who did we pass on that we should have taken at 17 rather than Lamb? Its easy to pound your fist on the table and scream we should have gone defense.......... tell us who.
Not only getting to take probably the best WR and top 10 talent, but the Eagles would have been all over him a few pics later... No brainer...

I like Lamb but is Dak good enough to allow Lamb to play at his potential. Lambs going to need some long arms to catch Dak's errant passes unless Dak improves on his accuracy.
IS this a serious post?

I mean...Dak was good enough to produce a pair of 1100 yard recievers and a slot wr with the most yards in the league last year. But gee...i don't know if he can get this guy the ball?

9.5 career sacks in college. He's got great traits and may blossom in the NFL but the Cowboys took an actual great on field player vs a guy who looks like he could be one day.

No debate for me.

Same. I like the potential and athleticism but it’s risky as hell at 17. I was nervous for that very reason.

Only legitimate argument would have been a great trade down option that we dont know of yet.

Picking up a 3rd and taking Chaisson is not a better option in my mind.

Cowboys had 3 chances to trade down BUT it is hard to judge their refusal since we don't know what the compensation was.

Did he throw for a pair of 1100 yard catches in total, or did the receivers catch the ball and run for 1100 yards.

It was interesting to here Jerry say the team had four players at 17 they were prepared to take.

Chaisson, Lamb, Terrell, but who would be the fourth?

Probably C.J. Henderson who went much earlier than every mock draft had him going..........

charron, I promise the draft is not over. At the end of the day Defense will be answered. There is still much defensive fruit left on the tree tonight.

I would’ve taken Chaisson because I think the upside and need was more valuable to our team but it had to be Lamb or Chaisson.

If they would’ve done something stupid like drafting Diggs or McKinney I would’ve put the remote through my TV.

Chaisson or Lamb had to be the pick.

I’m feeling pretty good about my player evaluations after seeing where these DBs are going vs where media and fans projected them to go.

I had Terrell as my 3rd best corner.

I thought Diggs was overrated in terms of being a first rounder.

Xavier McKinney and Delpit both looked like reaches to me in round 1. Especially at 17.

Did he throw for a pair of 1100 yard catches in total, or did the receivers catch the ball and run for 1100 yards.

The best way to maximize your receivers' chances to produce is to hit them in stride so they can run full speed with the ball in their hands and make it easier for them to juke the cornerback.

We did? (Honest question)

Went to bed after the pick so may of missed tweets on that

Gotcha. That's what I get for not listening to JJ lol.
Wonder if they were good offers or j
Philly was trying but Jerry isn't giving Philly Lamb on a platter....hehe
Plus, looking at what Philly had to offer, and assuming no way they would part with their 2nd rounder just to move up 4 slots, they didn't have the right remaining picks to trade up.

well if you make that argument you better also make sure your guaranteeing we score more td's in the redzone. That argument works better with RB's as they eat more clock than WR. Also Ceedee year 1 is not better than Cobb last year so technically we still don't have better offensive weapons. This isn't a day trading move it's a long term investment move who pays dividends in 2-3 years.

totally agree, but Chaisson could be Ware or total bust...no idea because his stats don’t support his case.
I liked LB Murray or a short trade down for Ruiz...but you’re right, there weren’t any defensive players that we probably had rated anywhere close to as high as Lamb was on our board. I’d rather have a player at a position we don’t need (see Pollard) than another Taco or Hill.
Considering we lost our slot receiver there is some need there
Not biggest need but it’s not like we drafted a guy who’s gonna sit
He’s gonna get a ton of playing time and likely be the punt return guy unless there is someone else later

I hate that the offense gets the best player *again*, but it's hard to argue with taking the clearly best player on the board. Lamb can be really special.

Agree, as I think I posted something similar last night. Also I said before the draft, prefer defense, but if a WR is there head and shoulders above any other players, then they need to draft him. They can go defense in rounds 1 & 2.

Also Lamb not only helps the offense that was inept scoring at times, he also helps the defense. That TOP thing to keep the defense rested.
I don't care how good your defense is, they still need to be kept off the field, keep rested for the 4th quarter.

This also helps the offense and helps Zeke as well as Pollard. With these 3 on the field, they will not be able to stack the box.

Surprised to find there was even a sense that a thread under this title would be prompted by enough moaning/lamenting to show up.

It is too bad that there wasn't an equally attractive defensive option, but in a draft sense it's analogous to cranking that slot machine arm, and having it rain down copious amounts of cash and coin on us.

Almost as wonderful is knowing that our division rival's fans so badly wanted him.

I think there is a possibility that Lamb may turn out to be the better WR of COOP and GALLUP.
