I've been a huge fan of Saban (not Alabama) for a couple of decades . The man is the best college coach of all time , which is no surprise as his former boss , Belichick , is the best the NFL has ever seen , and Nicky S saw Hurts' glaring flaws during their NCAA championship game over Georgia ...........The Bulldogs took away Jalen's primary and secondary reads and that's why he floundered until he was mercifully replaced...........He makes Dak look all-world when it comes to reading defenses...........................

Carson “Charmin-Soft” Wentz has ended 3 straight seasons with an injury.

The last 2 seasons were injuries that he could have played through (not saying he SHOULD have, but he COULD have).

Philly noticed. They don’t have Nick Foles to bail them out and outshine Wentz anymore.

This is part of the cost of employing a soft, injury-prone starting QB. You have to burn a high draft pick on his replacement since you can’t rely on him to stay healthy.

Dallas knows they have a starter who will be available every Sunday barring a BIG injury. Dak’s a flat-out warrior. Don’t underestimate how valuable that is.

All this comparing Hurts to Dak by Dak haters is ridiculous. How about comparing Hurts to Wentz. He's his direct competition to getting any serious time on the field. I don't really get the pick. They paid Wentz, so does this pick mean they regret doing that?

I have always been an advocate for drafting a QB in the early rounds even when you have a QB. The patriots have done it and people dont laugh at them but In the Eagles case I think this was a smart move since Wentz has had trouble staying healthy and Foles is gone. Even if Wentz stays healthy Hurts is gonna be a cheap alternative to paying a backup QB.
I would like to see Dallas draft a QB that isnt some 5th or 6th round garbage that they always bring in. Draft for future starter and maybe you end up with a solid back up, trade asset or better case scenario he becomes your starter and you can trade your high priced QB. Best case would be the guy becomes elite and you have your QB for the next 12 years and you pay him.

If the Eagles draft well in the 4th round (three picks in a deep draft) then the Hurts decision would turn out to be wise - normally if a QB goes down then your season is over. They have a rookie QB for 4 years on team friendly deal. Probably looking at a Jimmy G type scenario. Trade bait after a couple of years should Wentz stay healthy then draft another QB in rounds 2-4. So it's kind of win win. No way Hurts would have lasted into the fourth round, they might have got him in the third round but would have probably had to trade up.

I thoroughly enjoy all the posts on CowboysZone but generally to get my laughs I rely on a trip over to BGN regularly. F-bombs galore! Those folks
are genuinely NASTY and quite surly when it comes to analyzing the fortunes of their beloved Iggles. Howie and Doug have been the recipients of their ire and disdain as of late. I would really hate it if that board was to ever shut down. Seems the Cowboys live in their minds continuously. Thoughts?

You claim that Wentz could have played through a concussion...

Have you heard of the concussion protocol? You have no idea what/how he could actually see at the time.

How on earth anyone could claim that a QB could have played on with a concussion without actually being that person or the doctor assessing him, whilst sitting in their armchair is beyond embarrassing.

If Hurts struggled throwing to a pair of wide-outs just drafted in the 1st round , what makes anyone believe he's going to succeed in the NFL , much less throwing to Philthy's oft-injured wide receiver core ?

This was a pure counter move. Hurts has dirt on Lamb. He probably recorded him doing something stupid. Jerry will have to eat it like he did the Dez tapes.

All these Eagles fans don’t realize how bad the pick truly is. I’m an OU fan and Hurts is not a NFL quality passer. He has all the problems Dak has multiplied by 10. His accuracy, decision making under pressure and ability to read defenses is bottom tier. Guys like him used to be drafted in the late rounds, now everyone wants Lamar Jackson.
i live in norman. and hurts sucks. yes his stats are good and he can run. he’s no LJ. Lamar is fast and was a good passer in college that locked in to primary target. hurts is a more polished passing version of tim tebow. i know everyone said same for Dak. Dak has work ethic and can see he needs to fix his game& works on it yearly. hurts thinks his game is fine and he’s best thing since sliced bread and he’s gods gift to football. he’s a arrogant a**hat
