I think this will also give us a chance to go light on depth at the wr position also because we have so much talent there.

I pay little attention to Sturm. He's been wrong about players a LOT.

Diggs is very raw. He was a receiver that they turned into a corner and told him not to worry about technique. Just play.

That's fine in college, but not the NFL.

I love the pick, but he's got a lot of developing to do. He will in time.

Right now, I would be expecting one more free agent being signed...but there is plenty of draft remaining.

On LBs, Safeties, CBs - More of each for competition, insurance, and to fill out the PS.

Once we get to round 6, we're looking at guys we're not gonna cry about losing if we cut them and someone else picks them up before we can get them to the PS.

Defensive Line (10)
LDE
: Demarcus Lawrence
1T: Dontari Poe
3T: Gerald McCoy
RDE: Aldon Smith

Rotation
: Tyrone Crawford, Randy Gregory, Neville Gallimore, Tristin Hill, Dorance Armstrong, Joe Jackson

If they're both here, I think Gregory gets the push for getting more snaps over Smith. Gregory will still be RFA next year. I wouldn't be surprised if they extended him this year. Jerry didn't work him so hard all these years to see him walk to another team when he can finally play.

Smith and Crawford are the 1 year guys. Similar in size and age. If Crawford is actually healthy, and Smith can play pretty well, they may get kept over younger guys in hopes of churning them for draft picks next year. Armstrong and Jackson are pretty disposable.

I'll be surprised if they dump AWoods. He's been our starter the last 2 years, costs nothing, and he'll still be RFA next year. Too much of a value proposition to let go, while Hill and Gallimore are entirely unproven, with Hill not looking good last year.

With the roster expansion, I hope the extra spot goes to 1T. We've been cheaping out there for years, and it costs us. Woods gives us a good backup 1T. McCoy, Hill, and Gallimore are the 3Ts.

Diggs will get snaps this year and every chance to replace Awuzie and Lewis as the season goes on. He's the future. They're short timers.

He's a second round pick like Awuzie. Most corners end up being average, no matter where they're picked. We'll see

That’s a patchwork defensive line. McCarthy and Co are doing as well as they can. But the state of the line is a testament to the failed approach of the previous staff.

Add Poe, remove Woods maybe. Or Hill.
but in a few weeks very possibly add Gregory and Smith in there. Remove Jackson
If smith can be half of what he was his first two years we got a defense
