Congrats.

Here’s the converse: the ultra productive college player that didn’t amount to squat.

Scooby Wright
Gino Torretta
Genius Smith
William Greene
Blair Thomas
...[endless]

The body type is not going to fail him. The lack of athleticism at a position in which he needs to beat bigger and stronger players (O-linemen) is likely what will.

I’ve got no issue taking him as the last pick in the 5th round, but that doesn’t mean I have to believe he’s got a real chance.

I've been looking at some videos of the guy. I see a lot of confidence and swagger to go along with physicality. My gut says he'll make this team.
Your brain should be telling you he’ll make the team. Watch the tape of him blowing by the 18th pick in the draft!
Some players make it because of intensity, desire, and technique etc. It’s not just about who runs the fastest and jumps the highest.

Teams examine personnel. If you're playing two undersized DE's at DT's, teams will call a draw play. Dallas used to do it all the time with Emmitt Smith. Teams would bring in their pass rush package, and Aikman would hand off to Emmitt, who would dash up the middle for a first down.
Thanks Captain Obvious.

This is why your LB usually keys the RB in these situations. You also have screen and draw rules for d linemen to call out and retrace once they recognize the o line is letting them through.

I like our chances on 3rd and 8 against a draw.

Don't be so easily offended, Captain Sensitive. You have a good offensive line, they'll push your DEs masquerading as DTs out the way and get on your linebackers. You have a quick scatback, he's going to be faster and quicker than your linebackers anyway, and running behind his offensive line, he can pick up 8 yards.

Again, the Cowboys used to eat teams alive with the draw play. Put undersized linemen at DT, smart teams will take advantage of you. We used to do it all the time.

What Draft site is this from? Sorry if my post too late.

Its Dane Brugler's draft guide, he does one every year and used to sell it individually. Now he works for one of the paysites that I don't we can mention here but you can download it athletically for free with a subscription there.

I like Brugler better than anyone else so I tend to go by that. He will have an occasional mile wide miss but is usually way better than the other sites.

not sensitive at all, just pointing out your simpleton take that you can simply run a draw against a NASCAR package. Teams prepare for the draw, listen to a sideline on any third and long play. Coaches are screaming CHECK SCREEN, WATCH THE DRAW! You're acting as if it's some invincible strategy that teams are helpless to defend.

It’s rich that you’re ignoring the fact the other NFL teams saw major deficiencies in Anae that you think I’m making up.

He was the last pick in 5th round despite his production and his Mr. Olympia physique.

My doubts on his NFL future is all made up. No red flags whatsoever, lulz.

Yeah, you're sensitive. If you were interested in talking football, you would have made your point without the snide remark.
You think coaches didn't yell "screen, watch the draw" when the Cowboys ran a draw? How did that turn out?
And, no, I didn't think it was some defenseless strategy. I simply mention that if you have undersized DTs, teams will be inclined to run against your undersized defenders, like, oh, they do when they try to take advantage of size and strength advantages. We're not talking 3 and 25. We're talking 3 and 8.

So, you think because a guy is listed as the same height and weight = same body type

That’s fudging moronic.

You find a security gaurd at your local pub that’s 6’3 254 lbs and that doesn’t mean he looks like Chaisson.

I see what you mean, these guys look like twins.

So bigger guns is what you come up with as the difference in a mid-1st round pick compared to a late round pick?

Anae had 25 reps on the bench which is well above average for a sub 260 pound player. It's more than some of the EDGE players drafted in the 2nd round.

Chaisson didn't lift.

this guy is going to have a tough time making the team. maybe he will play hard enough to get on the practice squad.
Well that is easy to say for anyone drafted this late but that doesn't mean we need him less. Hopefully he turns out well

I guess because you keep saying it, you must be right. Any other gems you have? Should teams take a knee if they are winning the game and there's less than 40 seconds left in the game?
Take off you pink underwear, get your emotions in check and accept the fact that I made a rebuttal to your comment.
Good grief.

You are making a nonsensical argument in an attempt to not admit to being wrong.

Teams in 2019 rarely ever ran a draw play on 3rd and 8.

Emmitt is the all time leading rusher and is in the Hall of Fame.

The Cowboys OL from back then was one of if not the best ever.

It was called a lead draw because they ran it with FB Moose Johnston lead blocking. He is one of best FBs in NFL history and definitely one of the best in the past 30 years.

Defenses in the modern era generally either play both DTs as 3tech which means both interior gaps (A gaps) are open OR defenses play a 3 man DL with just 1 DT.

You made a dumb statement. Your whole rebuttal has been "we used to do it with Emmitt!!'

Emmitt Smith hasn't played for Dallas in 18 years. Football teams employ the NASCAR or all-pass rusher packages on 3rd and long all of the time.

The only emotion your posts have inspired is sympathy. Maybe a little laughter.
