True. They can convert a huge portion of his current $31 million hit from the tag into a signing bonus and open up plenty of money.
Restructure Crawford.

He had a free ride already last seasom.

Some say for 4 years. Use the cap like you know what you are doing.

We hold back on Dak And freely give Crawford $8 mil/yr as a turnstile.

It's so strange. They scrimp and save to pay the big guys then throw the rest into players who probably could not start for anybody else.

Perplexed does not come close to describing this.

Stephen understands we're still looking at vet FAs. Unfortunately, for those of us who aren't responsible for the team's financial welfare, he's the one handling such things, not us. He's trying to say he's working on it. Really simple stuff. It's this thread's opening message. Let's just live with it.

He seems to be really bad at it. Minnesota, Philly and New Orleans seem to sign whoever they want every offseason while keeping all there younger stars.

I would think LB depth, WR depth, and maybe a TE is where they are looking. I’m not expecting a swing tackle signing unless Williams loses starting spot at guard to McGovern and not looking so well at tackle. I think they want to give Williams as many chances as possible to earn a meaning spot on the team after spending a 2nd on him.

How would you feel about this recieving core?

Amari Cooper
Micheal Gallup
CeeDee Lamb
Devin Smith
Noah Brown
Dez Bryant

What if Dez is that veteran presence he's referring too?

ditch the last two on that list for Cedrick Wilson any youngster and it should be good.
What position would Dez play exactly? Who is he taking reps from? At this point in his career, He’d clearly be the fourth. best WR on the team and he runs poor routes and drops a lot of passes while coming off a torn Achilles....
As a big Ok St and Dallas fan I was a huge Dez fan but cmon...his time came and went.

The Dez thing has to be allowed to rest in peace after the weekend.

The even gave away his number didnt they?

A veteran OT would be a smart move IMO but they wont do it.

I don't see how you let Williams compete at LG then if he loses you tell him he is the swing tackle when he hasn't played there since college. I don't know that he has played RT ever.

I think it was $14 mil left after the draft to sign players during the season and for additional help and injury replacements. That can disappear quickly. Stephen contractually negotiates and signs them, while player talent evaluation and contact is MM and McClay's area of responsibility.

Supposedly the money was already worked out. It was just the compensation the Jets wanted that stopped it from happening.

Yep......if you believe the reports, we offered a 1st and 3rd and the Jets wanted a 1st and 2nd...……...we said no.

That 1st turned out to be CeeDee Lamb...………..I wonder if the Jets would want a do over knowing what we know now?

I hope that search they're doing also includes punters! But I hope they're looking at the safety position. Malik Hooker is available for trade. I'd also definitely circle back on Jamal Adams and see if the Jets still want to trade. What if the jets ask for a 1st and Gallup?

He paid Jaylon after one good year, than gave into Zeke a running back with a history of problems, failed to sign Dak which would have actually opened up cap space and in the middle of it lost Byron Jones and Robert Quinn.

Meanwhile Philly loses no one of consequence, signed Darius Slay (who counts 4mill on the cap or two Tyrone Crawford's) and now has 10 million more in cap space over Dallas.

I think the Noah Brown era is over before it ever began.

As I liked Noah Brown, mostly from a biased standpoint, being a Buckeyes fan, but agree, I think he is pretty much done here, as you said, it never got going. I give Devin Smith (another Buckeye) the nod over Brown. But then even Smith has competition with injury prone Wilson (as Brown has been too, but Wilson's have been legit injuries), and even Johnson with his speed, but had too many PS drops.

But I have Smith as #4 on my depth chart as of now. He has more upside than Ventell Bryant, but they seemed t like him on ST's. But that was the Garrett group.

I liked Dez, but I think that ship sailed, it would come down to injuries for him to be signed. But looking at WR's and the injury prone / drop prone guys. Dez could actually be the #5 on paper.

All depends if they keep 5 or 6. But I think they keep 5, and go long elsewhere, like OL, DL, DB or LB if one looks great for ST's.

Because a Haha and Woods combo is average at worse, much more likely to be better as Haha’s been above average each year outside of the second half of 2018 (skins days). If you go by PFF especially, we should have a solid S combo. Not spectacular, but definitely not an exploitable weakness. Remember one thing Haha has proven to do is intercept the ball.
Make no mistake. I was pleasantly surprised with HHCD being added. One of the most overdue upgrades. I’m not exactly sure there are any better options out on the market? I think they are content with our group. I’m cool with it too. But if some other vet is available maybe they kick the tires if they are a better optioN than Woods? Who knows. I do know this though, after this draft I am a firm believer that they will jump on any real upgrades that can improve them instantly. A very refreshing change.

Sometimes it is true that the best deals are the ones you don’t make. Adams was someone I wanted them to pull the trigger on. But if I look at it now we’d have given up Lamb and Diggs for him. Possibly even Gallimore. That would have been painful to see happen. Under the Rod/Garrett regime it would have probably been bust picks anyhow. So glad those draft for their need days are done.
