How different would this defense look as currently constructed with the drafting of

With how Marinelli, along with Garrett the idiot’s, obvious influence on Kris Richard’s M.O....those two player’s misusage/non-usage might have tainted their careers from the get-go.

For all of the stories you hear of NFL players getting a second life under new coaching and getting better, do we really know how many good players get tainted by crap coaching/schemes/philosophy?

With the Garrett/Marinelli coaching staff there is a great chance both of those players would have been underwhelming.

Marinelli probably would have had Thornhill at Strong Safety and Watt playing as an off-ball LB.

Not only did Marinelli and his assistants originally play Byron Jones at Safety, they played Byron Jones at Strong Safety for much of 2017.

Sickening to think about it. I was so mad we passed on JJ Watt at the time and still upset.

If they would have drafted those players, the team may have done just enough for Garrett to get a new deal. I rue those wasted opportunities but after this draft, I’ll take where we are with this staff right now over even the small possibility that Garrett got to keep his job.

What if they made the defense good enough that it resulted in Garrett and Marinelli not losing their jobs?

Fun.

The two best picks we've made in a decade!

Correct. Those guys wouldn't have started out as hot as they did.

That is certainly a very high possibility. I would have rather drafted those players as well. But I would more rather have McCarthy as our new head coach.

The pick of Taco was an instant *** moment in my house.

I don’t usually get fired up about the draft because you just never really know—but for some odd coincidence, I watched a lot of him in college and I did not support the pick at all.

I truly believe there are guys in the league that would succeed in a certain environment and scheme and completely bust in another.

At any rate, whatever it took to get that clown act out of town.

I don't think it's fair to ask how good would we be if we drafted at 100% efficiency. That's just not realistic.

Marinelli should have been fired for playing Byron Jones at safety. At the very least they should have stopped letting him have a say in which player was drafted on defense.

At some point you just have to let it go. Hindsight is 20/20. Every team could play the would have, should have drafted so and so. Pointless unless you just want to rant.

Steve Jobs offered the Chuck n Cheese founder 1/3 of Apple for something like $5-10M or something (forgot the exact number) when Apple was struggling in the early days. He turned it down to focus on his Chuck n Cheese business. When he wants to cry, he thinks about all the money he could have today.
