What impact does limited or potentially no fans have on teams

It would be interesting to experience watching a game with no fans or cheerleaders from a production standpoint. There are a lot of camera takes with the crowd and the noise to pump up the game for viewers. I guess they could still have the sideline mics on but at a distance. My concern is that is would just lead to more commercial time. I wonder if it would lead to better officiating given that the refs would have less distractions. The announcers would certainly have their hands full too keep excitement in the game.

If the season is played with empty stadiums I think the NFL will come up with different ideals, maybe there will be more interaction on the sidelines with coaches and players than they have done in the past. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Not turning this into a political debate so leave that out of here.

If the season starts with either limited capacity stadiums or no fans at all, what impact does that have on teams?

I think for New Orleans, Seattle and KC it could be 1-2 games difference at home. While we’ll never know the true extent, there’s been questions how much Kellen changed the game plan last year in NO to accommodate crowd noise. Without fans, it’s just another dome game.

For Jacksonville and the Chargers, they should have a leg up since they don’t play in front of packed houses anyway.

Dallas I think it hurts more on the non conference road games than it does at home. Cowboys fans travel as well as Packers or Steelers fans.

Would Jerry and Stephen still be in a suite in an empty stadium?
Our fans mostly just sit on their hands so it’s not going to hurt us as much as it’s going to hurt other teams.

The only thing that matters for crowds is the $$$ it brings in sales. Would be an enormous loss in $$$. Although television ratings are now more important than attendance. But the community and surrounding area would be hurt the most by not having any crowd at all.

In terms of play on the field it makes absolutely no difference. Crowd noise is overhyped but it is fun.

At Seattle will feel it for sure. Denver will also. We own the stadium in Wash DC so it's actually an advantage to the Commanders. I'm sure there are others but those come to mind.

At first it will have an affect. But after a couple of games the players will know what to expect and the shock or surprise element of no crowd will wear off.

It might lead to less upsets. The better coach and team might win more frequently. Underdogs at home won't be able to rely on emotion from the fans.
And that right there is going to foul up the betting lines a bit. If 3 points was understood for the home team then you may want to reconsider who you are betting on...

Ty, the only one with a freaking common sense response. Some people are just azz hats and live under a rock.
I already know man. I get what you're saying.

Selfishly? I'm hoping if we get football its the same product we've usually gotten as far as fans goes.

It won't even the same as a fan so I can only imagine a competitor.

I think people are so football hungry they don't think about these things.

I think the semi-good news is that it seems the NBA will be the first ones either allow fans back at arenas or play in front of empty crowds. So I think any issues we will know first from them when they try to finish their season.

Or hell maybe NHL. Not even sure who would go first.

Not sure if the question asked is serious......

But if you are, then somebody should probably pose this question to Detroit Lions. They haven't had a Fan Base in years.......
