Worley is listed as 6-1, 215. He's bigger than anyone we currently have at safety. I think that's where we want him to play. If so, I think it's a good move. Take a player who wasn't bad at corner but was too slow and see if you can give him new life at safety.

Why not just sign a real safety that knows how to play the position. How often do position changes at this level work out?

Might not care for any of the safeties out there. You've got a pro personnel department whose job is to consider all options. They may have thought this was the best option after it didn't work out to take one in the draft.

Of course, I'm just guessing. They may have just wanted to add him to the corner competition. He just really doesn't have the speed to ever excel at that. He doesn't even have real good speed for a safety.

I actually like Worley. 6'1" and 215 lbs, only 25 years old. I don't know the details of the contract, but I'm guessing very little risk here, and if you gamble some, gamble on size and youth. People are right, he wasn't stellar in 2019, although he only allowed completions on 53.5% of targeted passes.

Only 5 INT's in his 4-year career, with just 1 last year, he had a PFF grade of 64.0.

Chidobe Awuzie - 72.2 - 59.8% - 5 penalties in 1019 snaps played
Maurice Canady - 71.5 - 63.3% completion rate - 1 penalty in 240 snaps played
Jourdan Lewis - 68.7 - 68.8% completion rate - 1 penalty in 589 snaps played
Daryl Worley - 64.0 - 53.5% completion rate (46 completions on 86 targets) - 4 penalties in 939 snaps played
Anthony Brown - 63.9 - 60% completion rate - 3 penalties in 282 snaps played

On a side note, so many of you here swear Anthony Brown is legit. Just like with Heath, I don't know what you guys or the team sees in him. I'm a bit of a DB snob, but still, I don't get it at all.

Solid press corner, gives us more size on the outside.

Trevon Diggs 6'1" 195
Reggie Robinson 6'1" 205
Daryl Worley 6'1" 215
Maurice Canady 6'1" 193
C.J. Goodwin 6'3" 190
Chris Westry 6'4" 199
Savion Smith 6'1" 200
Deante Burton 6'2" 205

Obviously, half of these guys won't make the team, but it appears the Front Office has a type, which is good, because having tall, press corners really allows you to do some aggressive things with your defense.

Very possible one or two players could be converted to Safety. It's also possible that Awuzie or Lewis could be moved, possibly as part of a package to acquire a Safety like Jamal Adams.

Byron Jones went from safety to corner and made the probowl then followed that up with a season that made him highest paid corner in the league

Do we know its Awuzie? I've read its him but also its Robinson, did McClay say it directly?

McCarthy was gushing about Robinson at CB in a post draft interview. Said when they started watching tape on him they couldn’t understand why he wasn’t being talked about like all the other first and second round CBs.

It would’ve been one thing if he vaguely complimented his traits or production, but specifically comparing him to 1st/2nd rd CBs doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you say about someone you plan on converting to a new position.

I'm not set on it, I'm really just going off of the fact they said someone is moving. From the scouting report he does seem like a fit at FS as well as CB, so I was wondering. I read something from Machota today where he said it was very likely to be Awuzie moving to S.

Not to me. It makes sense to develop Robinson as a starting CB and just go get a real safety. There is no need to screw around with switching people to safety.

I'm not opposed to signing another veteran Safety, I've never been a fan of Clinton-Dix. I just think that Robinson has the skill set for Safety and might start there faster than he would at CB. I don't have a strong opinion either way, we really don't know the scheme they will run and I'm giving the new staff the benefit of the doubt at this point.

So many corners

Doesnt bode well for Chido imo

Diggs
Lewis
Brown
Robinson
Canady
Worley
Chido

We are only keeping 5 of these guys

From one of the Tweets:
I kinda think Worley's best spot is at safety....

Also, there was talk of moving Robinson to S as well. Long ago, there was talk of moving Chido to safety too.

I don't think we have too many good DBs yet. One or two of these guys should move to S. Robinson would be good to transition over for next year.

I have a feeling two of those corners are moving over to safety to team up with Woods & Dix.
Dallas also has Savion Smith.
