I would like to get rid of the cable and subscribe to a few streaming services. The one thing holding me back is that I NEED to be able to watch the Cowboys and the Longhorns games. It would be awesome to be able to record them when necessary as well.
Is this scenario even possible?

If you're local, a digital antenna would do the trick but would need another device to record it. $15

YouTube tv is only around 40$ a month and assuming you live in a cowboys marked will cover all your needs

i have been cord cutting for years but its not the end all to be all,

YouTubeTV = 45.00
Netflix = 14.99
Disney + hulu + espn 12.99
Amazon prime 119.00 a year 9.91 a month
Internet to be able to stream everything with my kids 200.00

Total = 282 a month

if i bundled with Att or cox i'd get it for about 200 a month but i would not have access to all the shows i want to watch, and my internet would be slow as dirt and i work from home so i need fast internet.

A hobby other than TV. Priceless. :eek::D

btw, your Internet is more than my cable, phone and Internet combined AFTER the triple play discount expired. I used to pay $180 post Tripe-Play, and $99 for all three when I had the triple-play combo discount. (I cut the cord long ago due to those prices)

I suggest you shop around. You are getting mugged (that's the clean adjective I would use to describe it) and I don't care how fast it is. Currently, I have 150mb down and it's $79.99/month.

I use Tivo and HD OTA antenna. Got tired of cable rates going up. Also have Sling TV subscription. And tons of TV on DVD.
Wow, I didn't even realize Tivo still existed. I thought the entire company went the way of the doodoo. Or are you just using an older device or something?

They're still around and it works pretty well for OTA programming. The antenna connects directly to the box and they are the tuner for the TV.

I love Tivo. Have for many years. I was so sad when my DirecTV TiVo box died and I had to use their crappy DVR. Couldn't fast forward and watch at the same time like it was Benny Hill. Bought a Roamio Tivo when I cancelled DirecTV.

I prefer it to the "Cloud DVR" that we have with Sling TV the Tivo is much more reliable and easier to use. I also have two with a bunch of older hard to find shows like Ironside that have since been taken off by the networks that aired them.

The way I look at it is I would be paying for internet anyway so I don't count that as part of the expense.

You’re gonna need a wide pair of scissors depending on the thickness of the TV.
