I like DeNucci but I think the probability of him making the roster is very slim since we are so high on Cooper Rush for whatever reason.

I really wish we could take a look at journeymen guys like an Andy Dalton or even a Cam Newton. They could fill that "Bernie Kosar" or "Steve Beuerlein" type backup role that we had in the Jimmy era.
The old coaching staff was.

I honestly don't think the Cowboys make any moves with QB unless there are injuries. They seem to be satisfied with their QB cupboard. As far as those that want Dalton, there are a lot or media rumors swirling that New England has their sights set on him. Bill Belichick is just the kind of guy that will make a deep playoff run with somebody like Andy Dalton too.

Plan A: Sign Dak to a multi year contract..
Plan B: Dak plays under franchise tag
Plan C: What if Dak holds out and doesn't sign the franchise tag contract... Is a veteran bought in... Is Rush next man up...
Sign Cam Newton. Get our doctors to check him. A good coach and offensive coordinator could unlock him.
He would come at a much cheaper cost than Dak. Don't kill me, a good team builder should always be looking improve the team.

I’m down. The FO should be prepared for all scenarios. Not just I’m sure he’s going sign.

Dont forget that was the old regime that favored Rush. This season is a new beginning and what we came to expect the last 10 years doesn’t necessarily apply to the present. Here’s to hoping at least.

Our 7th rounder we picked up will battle it out this preseason for backup. Maybe wind up being the guy. Very accurate and throws well. Lol.
He’s probably to raw to expect him to carry you through a season
But I wouldn’t be surprised if he sent little red packing
Dak will be the QB

I think Plan C is Jerry blinks and caves in.

I wouldn't mind a vet signed dirt cheap, a la range Winston signed for, but maybe guys like Cam/Flacco would rather take a year off than sign for that cheap. Give them a low base but load it with incentives.

I would rather have them do that if Dak refuses all reasonable offers. If he gets so expensive that we can't afford the help he needs, we're better off moving on.

Plan C is not going to happen because there is no incentive for Dak to go with plan C. Dak can play under the tag for 2 years then reset the market in a huge way in his worst case scenario. He is not a RB playing on borrowed time. This is his first payday and as a QB he will likely get 2 of them and a smaller 3rd one. There is no need to plan around Dak making a completely illogical decision. Now what likely would happen if they cannot come to a deal is you would not see Dak before the start of the season.

We don't know that MM isn't high on him though.

Didn't he get tendered after the McCarthy hire?

with all these QBs around, you only need them if they will have to play a significant number of weeks.
maybe playoffs
wait and see who is available if we need them.

Jerry has the pen and the checkbook and said #4 will be there when it's time to play.

I wanted him signed in time for OTAs, which there may not be...so, what's the rush.

Jerry is gonna need to fork over at least 60 million at signing. Why do that any sooner than need be?

That's probably the only holdup at this point.

Rush can't be next man up because he isn't even legit NFL backup. I really think Dallas is terrified to bring in QB who can throw ball because Dak is aweful practice QB and back-up might look better in that setting.

Another Dak thread.

Got to love it.

Dak? Oh we all have to answer.

Admin..we need another server brought online..

Now.

Since I look at Big Mike I feel him playing QB as Plan D sucks.

We are stuck with Cooper Rush.

Which may not be a bad thing. I have watched his highlight reel on YouTube and he can throw it plenty good enough.

His one bad preseason to me was just the old sophomore jinx thing.

He was learning enough of the offense by then to be making mistakes.

It is completely possible under Big Mike to be our starter and to play well enough that Dak becomes Plan Zed.

We just do not know. This bro-mance over Dak is clouding our thinking.

Fact is..Dak has never had ANY competition for his job.

I think he should get some before we just hand him his $40 mil/yr deal.
