Put me down as hoping he would have gotten #10, but we are assuming a lot by saying this was forced on Lamb. Who knows what his thoughts on this was, or if he even knew #88 was an option when he mentioned #10. Who knows if anyone else besides Jerry has had a conversation with Lamb that could have changed his mind...Irvin maybe?

Drew and Michael, heck maybe even Dez asked him to consider 88 if Jerry suggested it as well.
Who really cares, but some always need to go against the top dog.

I was fine with 10 and also fine with 88. But I have to admit I like the 88 legacy to continue for a player worthy of wearing it.

Jerry can get rid of those old 88 jerseys he's had since Stephen made him cut Dez.

Terrible in so many ways.

He doesn’t want to wear it.

It won’t look as good as 10.

It’s still too soon to give someone that number and they disrespect Dez again.

Nothing about this sits right with me.
Who has disrespected Dez? It’s been what, 3 years since Bryant?

I like Dez. I did sour on him after 2014. That’s just me as a fan. But we don’t owe Dez anything. Maybe his fans feel otherwise. But The Cowboys treated Dez line a son through the very thick, and the thin. Paid him handsomely as well throughout his career. And then it just didn’t work out, and it was time to move on.

I actually wanted CeeDee to pick his own number. 10 would have been cool. 88 comes with some pressure. And Jerry being the salesman he is probably sweetened the pot for CeeDee to go ahead and take it, and try to become the next great 88. It’s a Dallas Cowboy’s tradition. I’ve got no problem with it.

I think Lamb will live up, and look awesome. Glad we’re continuing the tradition!

He sure tore down some peeps on his way out. I get it. We had crap coaching, yada yada. But you can’t live off talent alone. You have to hone your craft. Hence why the Cowboys thought Dez no longer had the talent to overcome deficiencies.

At least on the plus side he isn’t the next savior!! “The One”. He’s the number 3 receiver who should be extremely productive in a very good offense. Normally this move would irk me but the one time in honor of his friend also named Lamb is the time it might actually work.

Did you not watch the post draft conference where when asked about the jersey number that Jerry said he wants him in #88 for his dead friend and "tradition"?

And it's pretty easy to change your mind when you don't have a choice.

You missed the point of my post, I said he was given a choice...accept an incredible generous gift from Jerry and wear 88, or wear 10. CeeDee is a smart kid and will happily be wearing 88. What benefit would Jerry get in making his new employee unhappy? I don’t think Jerry is a good football mind, but it’s undeniable that he’s a great business mind. Also undeniable that he’s incredibly wealthy and isn’t bashful about spending to get what he wants.

Not to mention that you’re also missing the common sense business/marketing side of this for Lamb. #88 Cowboys jersey well undoubtably sell better than #10.

Hard to see a scenario where CeeDee didn’t come out happy from this

None of the people whining about this know anything about the personal conversations that have been going on between Lamb and Jerry, nor can any of you attempt to speak to how Lamb really feels about this.

As much as I love to pile onto Jerry's idiocy, this seems much ado about nothing.

Because it’s too soon and the player doesn’t want the #.

Too soon for what? Dez is history here. They gave the number to Antonio Bryant. CeeDee has way more expectations than Antonio Bryant did. If he is good as we all think, he will definitely be worthy of the number. Far more than Antonio Bryant and probably Dez. Dez didn't win us any championships either....
