Interesting that they cut a LB when going into camp we're short handed at LB already.
Hoping we pick up Clay Matthews, personally.

He could kind of solve both our LB depth and EDGE pressure issues all in one.

He had 8 sacks last year. In a 3-4 formation, he can rush the passer still. History with McCarthy. Makes sense.

We've still got a too many NFL quality guys at CB .

Chido
Diggs
Lewis
Brown
Robinson
Canady
Worley

That's 7 guys who are too good to cut. Figure either Chido, Robinson or Worley will be moved to safety. Maybe one of them gets traded though.

Or more accurately, they've been told they like Crawford.

Funny how folks use the same tired line for the old regime to describe the new coaching staff.

Nothing. I mean none of the moves Mike McCarthy has made suggest he’s anything like Garrett, that includes taking player personnel advise from the front office. Period. Which is exactly what most of us have been waiting for.

He is the consensus #1 pick in next year draft but imagine him pulling a Peyton Manning and stays his final year.

food for thought:

Tua was the consensus #1 pick about this time last year also.. until Burrow happened.

There’s a lot of football going to happen between now and then.

side note: it would be a fun exercise to see how many people believe Lawrence will be next years #1 pick

Your right. There could be a qb that comes from out of no where that we may not heard of. Don't think many people had Carson Wentz ranked high. It will be interesting next year if they even play.

They probably think Bernard can give them at least the same as Covington

From what I'm hearing, they like Bernard a lot, even with his personal issues.

I'm calling it now, Bernard will make the team and will have an impact on Special Teams. I also think he will be the 5th LB going into the season.

No, you're right. The Jones family has completely abandoned their two-decade long insistence of making all football-related decisions.

I sure hope you're right about this...

Me too to be honest..

What gives me hope:

The FO didn’t over spend in FA, yet still landed Veteran presence at a previously ignored position at DT(I.e.- McCoy, Poe)

They were patient in their approach when paying Cooper and tagging Dak. Also signing underrated players like Brown and Jarwin. In the past, Jerry just threw money at players.

The FO stood pat at #17 during the draft.. in the past, we could bet the FO throws draft picks away to move up and “get their guy”.

McCarthy has already stated to Will McClay.. “just give me good football players”.. he intends to fit the scheme around the player, not force a player to the scheme.

McCarthy or the FO..could have pressed to resign this years top Cb, Byron Jones, but he switched gears and trusted the scouts.. of course they drafted players that could play this year

McCarthy fired almost all the coaches from the previous regime, albeit Jerry stating he wanted to keep some coaches like Marc Columbo...yeah, he’s gone and McCarthy’s guys moved in

And it shouldn’t be a surprise to see Dallas actually draft players with value throughout the draft without coaches like, Marenilli, breathing down McClays neck and swaying Jerry to pick “Their guy”. Side note: I can’t get the image out of my head of Marenilli elated when we drafted Tristian Hill..sigh:rolleyes:

So far.. McCarthy has his fingerprints all over this team and all these moves are on him. Not the FO. Time will tell if this means anything.. but one thing is for sure..

For those that always blame Jerry for anything and everything.. simply bc it’s an easy scapegoat and quite honestly, simpleminded criticism. They should finally be happy we have a proven HC, that has some pull, trusts his scouts, has his own coaching tree to implement a different attitude, scheme, and bravado to the Cowboys.

I’m stoked and personally all in. This is a new era of Cowboys football!
