My biggest issue with it is that Marinelli could be ALLOWED to put him in the doghouse.

Hey pal! That's your guy! The one that you banged on the table to get. You're tied at the hip to these guys. If they fail, YOU fail.
My issue is then they went back and took another of his guys, with similar problems

That's not true, you should research that. It's widely known that Marinelli was the guy that made that call on Taco.

Another guy that he should have been stuck with, with no doghouse to throw these valuable resources into.

It was his fault.

But McClay and the scouts loved Taco's athletic profile and his big program experience.

That is insanely inconsistent with his character EVER.
He is more the opposite. He is lower on guys and knocks guys.
He saved them from taking Sharif Floyd (handing them Travis and extra draft capital that allowed a trade up for DLaw).

Rod was old and predictable. He liked the idea of Taco in his defense fine but wasn't any major driving force there.

Booger's gonna get him on his boat, take all his money with loaded dice and he'll be an indentured player for 4 years.

Superfan will LOVE the Snidely Whiplash aspect of that joke! Wonder if he likes JW Blue...

Hey CC, I utilized your Bloody Mary recipe the other day. Thumb’s up!

Yo people! Here is a recap of today's segment which concluded a few minutes ago. Link will be added later, probably tonight.

I'll preface this by saying that before he even started the segment, JJT and Matt were talking at length about Taco Charlton, and his dismissal from the Miami Dolphins. JJT said that he had texted one of his team sources and asked them if they were surprised by this news. Source said "Nah, not at all. That's just who Taco is." One thing that JJT said on air during Jam Session today that really stuck with me was that in his 26 years of covering the Cowboys, he's dealt with almost every player in some fashion, but he said there have been only two players EVER that have rubbed him the wrong way with arrogance, ego, and entitlement without accomplishing a damn thing and we drafted both guys the same year: Taco Charlton and Ryan Switzer. Now for the segment:

1. JJT spent a little bit of time on the secondary, and really introduced Daryl Worley to the listeners if they didn't know who he was. He was drafted by my hometown Panthers, so I know he was a third round pick out of WVU in 2016, who was traded to the Eagles for WR Torrey Smith. He never really even got on the field for the Eagles because he was caught sleeping in a running car blocking a major highway, and was subsequently released and spent the last two years with the Raiders. He is a starter in this league and has a lot of experience at CB, and Dallas paid him too well to be just a camp body, so I would look for him to be a major contributor from the start. But given McCarthy's recent remarks about DB's with position flex, JJT asked a team source if Worley is a CB that can also play a little bit of Safety? Or is he a guy that can be a starting Safety in this league? Source said that he's a CB that can play a little bit of Safety if needed, but they can't envision a scenario where he would be a starting Safety in Dallas.

JJT also mentioned to the source that it seems that we are getting bigger at corner. All of our guys now, with the exception of Jourdan Lewis, are 6 feet or taller and 200 lbs. What does this mean for "lil ol' Jourdan Lewis", as JJT called him. Source said that "J Lew" as he called him, has skills and followed that up with "he a dawg." Said you need guys like this on your team, because they don't care who's name is on the jersey that you're playing against, you will always get 100% from them, and like guys like Zeke, they bring a certain element of a physical toughness to the team. JJT compared him to Kevin Smith in the '92 NFC Championship game. He wasn't the best corner in the league by far, but he also wasn't in any way afraid of lining up next to Jerry Rice, and threw him around all game. Said Jourdan is the same way. Think back to the All or Nothing series on Amazon a few years ago. Who was giving Dez the most hell in practice? J Lew. He a dawg, and that's why Dallas likes having him around.

2. Spent a little time discussing training camp location possibilities and it's basically between Oxnard and Frisco. JJT asked a source if CA was completely off the table because he and Matt were looking forward to a little beach time this summer. The source told JJT that they will wait until the final hour to make that determination because CA is very important for Dallas in their preparation for the season. It's obviously very hot in Texas over the summer, so they would have to practice early in the morning if they were to do it in Frisco. Doesn't sound like a huge issue, but it is because that leaves little to no time for walk-thrus or installs before practice, which is the whole reason you go to training camp. Frisco also leaves them with way less field for individual drills, plus the whole sentiment of getting away from Dallas for the month is very important to the whole organization. I guess we'll see.

3. Amari Cooper wanted to buy Deion Sanders's house in Prosper. Came to Deion to talk to him about it. Deion basically told the kid, "nah man, you don't need that much house." When Deion built the house, he had a wife and was raising like 5 kids and had even more kids in and out of his house with all the camps and charities that he's a part of. Told Amari that buying that big house for him to just be living in isn't a smart thing to do with his money. Deion always has kept it real. Told him to come back and talk to him though once he had a family.

4. An unnamed, newly acquired player that is in Dallas currently, who they expect to be a major contributor has a huge problem that the media hasn't hit on yet - he has a gambling issue. JJT asked a source if he gambles on sports, horses, casino games, or what? Source told JJT that he shoots dice, or essentially plays craps for you boomers, on the streets. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but people don't shoot dice in nice neighborhoods. You are typically in the hood, where things can pop off and go awry quickly. Says the Cowboys knew of this issue before signing him and they think that have the resources and help to keep this guy on the straight and narrow. Really curious as to who this player is.

And that's all I got, folks. Check back next week :starspin:

im just waiting for Friday to hit for this stuff, thanks!

Switzer actually is a really cool dude and has a huge heart for people. He has a dog mentality though but if a player said they were the best and you liked them than y'all wouldn't be saying the same thing about them as you do Switzer. Matter of fact I seen some of y'all praise guys for saying they are the best when they aren't. His attitude could rub people the wrong way but it's not because he is self entitled etc. I really wished he got a chance to contribute in Dallas and I just think some never gave him that chance.

Switzer got cross threaded with Linehan. Immediately, I thought Ryan would be a fan favorite. Figuring out folks is hard.

That is just nonsense that has been spouted by idiots who hate Rod.

"Nonsense" is listening to a clown like Danny Phantom! A bigger, more naive Cowboys homer doesn't exist.

Check out this link, without that revisionist history behind it two years later:

"The Taco Charlton vs. T.J. Watt debate had been settled days before, the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff winning the healthy argument with the scouting department, Rod Marinelli and the coaches believing that Watt is more of an outside linebacker than the right defensive end the scouting department viewed him to be."

So if I had to rank the people who make the decisions on who we draft, what would it would look like?

1. Jerry
2. Stephan
3. Mc Clay
4. Garrett
5. Marinelli or Moore.
6. Position coach

Yeah, it's cool to blame Marinelli and Garrett because they are gone, but it should always start at the top in the blame game.

Jerry ultimately approved it, but what would you be saying if he overruled them?

The driving forces on why we have Taco or Marinelli and Garrett. If you want to consider McClay and the Jones boys as accomplices to the crime? Sure, they were all ultimately complicit.

But the two chief architects were rightfully fired.

Not true.
None of that says anything like you claim.
My take comes directly from Will McClay's mouth.
Danny Phantom is referencing that Broaddus take where he CORRECTED himself after McClay went on radio and said scouts had equivalent grades on King, Taco and Watt.
Kevin King was the top player left on their board.

Rod was not part of the 4 person final say committee in Dallas personnel.
They had judged Watt a LB in their system a couple WEEKS earlier but he was banging the table for no one.

Dallas made a consensus decision (all 4 final decision makers agreed) to go DE over CB or LB largely because they liked the depth at the other positions in that draft.
Rod year 1 was active in war room scrums because he had just been added to staff and they were all scrambling but his role never matched that after year 1.

Anyone saying Rod banged a table is basing it off stuff Broaddus put out that he later corrected.

That article basically says EXACTLY what I am saying now.
The forceful response — the response that served as the figurative “table-pounding’’ that brings the 6-6, 277-pound Michigan product to a Cowboys team in need of next-level defensive help — came from Dallas coach Jason Garrett.

From Stephen: "That's how the draft was set up, to help us get a good pressure player at the bottom of the first round. As good as that was, I think the draft sets up even better for us to get a really nice corner at the bottom of the second.’’

The idea that a coordinator influenced a 1st round pick is silly. If your DC has more say than McClay and Jones then that's on them, not on Rod.

You're fixating on semantics rather than the issue. The fact is that Marinelli was the leader in the clubhouse regarding Watt being a linebacker and not a DE. That opinion was in direct opposition to what the scouts reported. Call it whatever you need to after that, but don;t miss the key points.

Like I said, you're hung up on the 'banging the table' references, while ignoring that it was Marinelli leading the charge with Garrett backing 'his guy'.

I bet it’s a bigger secret than we thought.

It’s Fat Mike that has a dice problem. Picked up that vice on the mean suburb streets of Pittsburg as a kid to earn extra lunch money. Obviously, he’s pretty good at it.

Since when was Snot Boogie expected to be a major contributor?
