Michael Irvin may be my all-time favorite Cowboy. I hope CD lives up to the honor of wearing number 88.

Are you taking a shot at the green pants?

Yes. I didn't mind it so much in the past. But ever since Nike took over they made it pop out at you. I'm not saying it should a bright silver, but a grey silver mix like it appeared in the 70s and early 80s. I realize it was a greenish color then too, but that's not how it looked on TV.

Look at these pants. The color can now be duplicated without the green tint due to high def TVs. But what they're wearing now just makes me sad. Like a puppy dying.

Nice try, Mike... it makes for a nice slogan to put on a poster but it doesn’t explain the clowns who wore the number in the decade between yourself and Dez...

So.. umm.. how did Jackie Harris and Brett Pierce end up with #88 then? Or does it not count because they were TE's?
I guess I can go grab my old Irvin jersey, toss a piece of duct tape over it and write Lamb.
Brett Pierce …. wow, great memory. I didn't pull that one out of the deep recesses of my brain when thinking of 88's on the Cowboys.

Dez Bryant took the high road after CeeDee Lamb took his digits.

Shortly after it was revealed the prized rookie receiver will be rocking No. 88 as a Dallas Cowboy, the veteran wideout provided powerfully encouraging thoughts, rubber-stamping Lamb’s (team-assisted) decision.

“I can’t feel no way but be supportive of lamb and the rest of these young stars that’s entering the league.. I believe it’s my job to help them succeed as much on and off the field,” Bryant tweeted Thursday.

The green actually dates back to Tex Schramm and to that era in the 1970's and 1980's. The attached article says this about why it is more noticeable now ...

Years ago, what you saw on television and in photos was far off from what the Cowboys were actually wearing. That’s part of the reason so many people now notice how green the Cowboys’ pants really are.

The player makes the number , , ,

It's most definitely not the other way around.

C D has all the talent necessary to continue that legacy.
We've been fortunate in that sense and should be for years more! :flagwave:

I just want to hear from CeeDee.

If Cee Dee isn’t thrilled and honored to wear 88 he’s playing for the wrong team! I’m sure he’s very happy about it. Yes, he said he wanted to wear 10 but that was before he knew Jerry wanted him to have the legendary 88. I’m sure Cee Dee will do the number and all who have worn it proud.

I'm sure Jerry forced Irvin to say that, just like he forced Lamb to take the number 88 over the number 10. No other possibilities other than Jerry's ego and greed.

That’s what I feel too. Now he’s going to just agree with the tradition and say it’s privilege. It’s too far gone now with everyone coming out and supporting it.
