that was a strong safetys job back then, not much coverage just let them toucj the ball that separate it from them and their faculty's..many Safetys were like that ..used to make wrs scared to roam into the middle at all..

Sean Taylor had the same criticisms that Roy Williams had. The whole "he was one dimensional" talk only came up when the league rapidly evolved in the mid-00s. He and Taylor were perfect for the league before that. Big hitting roamers. If Williams went out young like Taylor did, he'd have a similar legacy and Taylor's flaws would have then shined. Instead, one is mocked by his own fan base while the other has a "he would have been a HOF if" legacy.

His style of play was phased out of the game .
Plus he was engaged to Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child.
How can you concentrate on football getting that all the time?

He was the reason for the horse collar rule.
Facts!!!

There was a play I think his rookie year where we played the 49ers and Roy was on the kick off team and the guy from the 49ers comes running up the field full bore and Roy hits him full force and I swear when I saw it I thought Roy killed the guy. I never saw a man hit so hard and just crumble to the ground. That play was in the original BOOM video and I used to specifically watch that play. Roy his first 3 years was a one man wrecking crew. After Woody left, Roy was never the same player.

Actually losing her is what seemed to ruin him, sadly

By the end, The Biscuit was a huge liability in coverage and the league knew it.

In 2006 against Seattle, I thought we were doomed once we lined up for the kick. I expected them to throw straight at Roy to drive for *their* go ahead FG.

Too bad the quality wasn't better. How many flags did you count in todays era? I lost track. Lol He killed everyone except that big fullback from the Saints. I call that a draw. Do you remember when Ricky Williams punked him? He was with the Dolphins when he had that comeback year and to be fair with Roy, he converted to Christianity by that time so he had lost that killer instinct.

Huh? Roy Williams was drafted in 2002...Ricky Williams last year with the Saints was 2001.

I believe it was Ricky Williams that Roy came barreling in on, hit him hard but Ricky didn't even budge. Perhaps it was when Ricky was with the Dolphins or I have him mixed up with another RB.

Um, I feel like Emmitt was hurt plenty, the way I remember it. The fact that he was durable and played forever as a starting RB doesn't mean he was healthy that whole time. Hamstring issues and some issue with his heel. That Giants game when his shoulder was dislocated and he was basically playing with 1 arm.

And, I may be remembering wrong or confusing a couple of different games, but I think he had a game against the Vikings where he broke some big runs (like, to the point where people were buzzing that it might be a game where he'd challenge the single-game rushing record -- he had something like 150 yards before the 1st half even ended). But then he broke his hand when his finger got caught in a facemask stiff-arming a guy on his way into the endzone on the first of two TD runs in, like, a 30 second span. We got the ball back too quick after a turnover for them to realize his hand was broken yet before the next TD run. Then he got pulled from the game when they realized.

But, yeah, Emmitt got hurt a bunch.

He actually missed action after this game. All those games he played through or was back the next week.
