4.37 Unofficially but I bet he runs 4.3 with 1 yr in NFL conditioning program and not being food poisoned will help as well.

4.30 seconds: Yamon Figurs, WR (2007)

We can take Ruggs off as he's not played yet, but most of the rest haven't had careers any better than slower receivers.

If great speed is such a big advantage it would seem more of the above would have had HOF or multiple All Pro careers. Taking a player just because he has exceptional speed is not a good idea...

Another thing people don't realize when they get all giddy about 4.3 or 4.2 speed. That's great once you're out in front and have the ball, but a lot of DBs have 4.4 speed and playing 10 yards off you. You're not going to just blow past someone you're one tenth of a second faster than.

Steve Smith Sr. 4.3 forty time and pretty successful receiver that can catch and run routes.

I remember someone, maybe Michael Irvin, say that speedsters generally don't make good receivers because the faster you run, the harder it is to stop your momentum. It takes them longer to break down into their routes. Unless you're running a go or deep route, you're basically useless on shorter to intermediate routes. Slower receivers (those in the 4.5 to 4.7 range) don't take as long to get into their breaks because they aren't running full out like speedier receivers.

Makes sense to me.
