Rock...8-8. That's the argument. Ignoring everything else that composes a team, but Dak couldn't get his team above .500. It is a lame conclusion, but "8-8" will be their dark horse because what else gives them any perceived credence except this (their) flawed "expert" assessment?

again wins are team stats, it takes a team to win.

To say he’s inaccurate is crazy, but to say he needs to be more consistent is reasonable. If only that was the argument anti-Dakers used then these conversations could be much more constructive, instead they want to claim he’s average smh.
I don’t think Dsk needs to be more consistent as much as I feel the team needs to be more consistent. Dak has been the poster child for consistency. Hasn’t missed a game in 4 years and has steadily improved. He’s as tough as nails and played a few games injured last year that got the haters frothing at the mouth.

A torn ligament in your throwing shoulder and a fractured finger on your throwing hand tends to hamper a QB I would think. The coaches really screwed up allowing Dak to play that game.
I totally agree that they screwed up. But given how the draft ended up I'm really glad that they did.

Otherwise, there's no way the draft would have fallen the way that it did.

What is there to argue about? That statements says nothing of consequence.

If anything, it says more about the overall quality of the team overall. Doesn't say anything about Dak.
Shut up, grumpy!!

He sure recovered from that torn shoulder ligament and fractured finger the next week against Washington though. Had a great game. Maybe Dak didn't feel the pressure since the Cowboys were pretty much eliminated from the playoffs and just let it rip.

Cowboys weren't eliminated from the playoffs at that point. That was another MUST win for the Cowboys. If Cowboys win and Philly loses, Cowboys make the playoffs.

Or maybe Dak’s just a bad ***. That’s my take. You can dwell in the sewers and think otherwise, but I chose to think the former because I’ve watched every game he’s ever played as a Cowboy. Preseason, regular season, playoffs. Those who dwell in the negative are not the folks I want to be around.

That's why I chose the term "pretty much eliminated". It would of taken a small miracle for the Cowboys to of made the playoffs last year.

So I'm not reading this whole thread. I'm not a stat guy, but this IMO corroborates MY eye test. Yes, Dak threw some inaccurate passes last year, but for the most part those passes didn't cost the Cowboys any games.

What's also true is that this offense really struggled in a bunch of games.

If the problem wasn't Dak's accuracy, then what was it? Were receivers not getting open? Did Dak just not see open receivers? Were we too predictable? Was the offense too reliant on receivers winning their matchups and not using scheme to get guys open?

Good post. But when you said Dak didn't cost the team any games with his inaccurate passes...that overthrow of Tavon Austin wide open (butt naked) behind everybody flashed into my mind.

Again, good post and solid questions.

I agree. That's why I wrote what the naysayers would say regarding the OP's post. It only took about 3 (edit: actually it was 7 or so) posts after what I posted, and like clockwork... "8-8" is the argument.

And what a beautiful thing that they didn't. Nothing more special than a complete team no show and collapse in the most important game of the year against Philly. A true, Garrett special at the most opportune time to get him fired.

Garrett teams have been choking in the biggest games of the season at the end all the way back to the middle of Romo's career.
