We have two aging veteran bandaids starting inside to go along with no weak side rusher and the supposed leader mailing in last season. Behind them is a guy with a spine issue that could end his career at anytime, a gimp who can't change directions and a vet on his last legs who could never stay healthy in the first place.

I'm not feeling real nasty. Unless you mean it in a different way.

I'll be your huckleberry...step up to the bar and challenge any of those 'gimpy, old aged, marshmellows,' to a fight...oh, and warn our SLB to wear a pillow around his neck...

Nobody better with after the play celebration than Jaylon Smith. You got to love him, whether he makes a play or not he'll be there to celebrate it:laugh:

Cant figure out if I like this dude or not.

Maybe he is underappreciated.

Didnt get busted w weed last year? He is probably sitting for four games.

At any rate he is at least 4th or 5th on the DT importance list, depending on how one views Crawford.

Because he was a decent BU forced into being a starter due to an inept coach and staff.
Woods is a great rotational piece, coming off the bench fresh.
Much more effective in his new role, even a better player now.

I think the front seven is going to be much better this year than it was last year. I think these aging vets have enough left to be better than the players who were starting and I think among Smith, Gregory and Anae, we're going to find a pass rush at right end.

I could be completely wrong, and I'm not absolutely banking on it, but I think this will be a strong group.

You really think so? I see it as a weakness.
As a weakness over what,, weaker than what we have had under the previous ignorant blind regime?
Weakness compared to the rest of the league currently?
This DL is heads and shoulders better than what this team has rostered at DL for several season now.
I have a hard time distinguishing between your 100,000 likes sarcasm at times.:D

Gallimore added in a rotation behind Poe and or McCoy has to be better or Im a blind fool.

DONT TELL THE MEDIA THAT!!!

They think our defense is doomed losing Heath, Jones and Collins!!
Jones and Collins are losses I think Cowboys fans take for granted. Collins was a very effective pass rushing DT last year. He got alot of pressure up the middle

Antwaun Woods is definitely an underrated player. He’s been a solid contributor since he arrived in Dallas. I’m not suggesting he is starter material, but he is definitely a solid depth rotational player. I’m happy he’s finally signing his tender.

Listed at 6’1” 320+lbs(1” shorter than Gallimore, but 15lbs heavier), he fits the new regimes mold as a hog that clogs the middle and has the strength to push the middle of the OL. For a time there, he was one of the few DT’s we had that actually caused havoc and made quality plays. Woods is a perfect backup DT behind Poe and McCoy. We won’t have to worry if the backup can play, he’s already proven so.

Last year he started the season recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, which I’m sure slightly diminished his strength. It didn’t help that he missed 6 games due to nagging knee injury that we later found out was a severe MCL sprain. Woods toughed it out due to our need at DT, but he was definitely handicapped most the season..hence the ‘down year’.

Hopefully a year or so later, his Labrum is healed and stronger. Yet, I haven’t heard anything about his knee. If he’s fully ready to go, he’ll be an asset on the DL.

That said, I have no clue if he’ll be suspended for his marijuana arrest from late December. The new CBA supposedly has relaxed the rules, but I suppose we’ll see. Even if he’s suspended for 4 games, he’ll be a nice addition regardless at his price. Woods has the attitude, size, and fortitude that Jim Tomsula likes. The best part about it, Woods will be playing for a new contract next year.. and it’s amazes me how often players capitalize on contract years.

If & when this happens Dallas will at the very least have a lot of options inside of their DL. A nucleus of McCoy, Poe, Gallimore, Woods, & Hill is another great starting point for a new Cowboys era.

I think the only ones we will miss are Quinn and Jones. The others can and have been replaced effectively.

Wouldn't call it nasty. Probably closer to average

It's possible that the DL could be very good.

RDE:
The biggest question mark. Big difference with both Gregory & Aldon Smith as compared to without either.

3tech DT: McCoy should still be good even at age 32 but the rookie Gallimore and/or Hill need to make a significant contribution in order to limit McCoy's snaps.

1tech DT: One of the best things about signing Poe is that it allows them to limit the snaps for both Poe and Woods. Both had had injury issues that seem to correlate to when they played too many snaps.

LDE: DLaw is set. Any scheme changes will center around keeping DLaw's position/assignments basically the same as previously. There are multiple options to play the 10 to 20 percent of snaps on the Strong Side that DLaw does not play. All of Joe Jackson, Armstrong and Crawford are better fits at LDE (strong-side) than at RDE.

Always thought Woods was more of a quality backup...we should see him play some good ball making that 1Tech position stout.

I liked Woods, he showed something, but not great, but seemed to have regressed last year. Not sure if from injuries, or the scheme / staff as they seemed to change also for the worse.
But this years he has much better competition to make the team.
If they re-sign him, he’ll be rotation and competition probably won’t matter due to the money.

Sounds fine to me!
