Well his touch on his passes is better than Dak's. But he throws too many ints for me. Having Zeke in the backfield, in a run first offense, would lower his turnover numbers though.

He has 204 touchdowns and 118 interceptions. Nothing to be embarrassed about at all.

If you are going to use a QB as draft capital you need a starter, a very good back up, and a very good developmental QB.

Red Rifle is from TX and lives in the Dallas area. All you who think the Cowboys are replacing Prescott with this move has not seen Dalton for the past 4 years descending versus a clear ascending of Prescott.

I am sure Dak mind is not on football at this particular moment and when he is ready the Jones's will be ready to sign him long term. In the meantime you have a former 3x Pro Bowler, that has never won a playoff game, but can hold the fort, lead a charge, and past the baton back to the anchor leg runner without dropping it.

It is funny that during the Romo years the Cowboys never drafted or signed a capable and competitive back up. The minute they draft one (Romo) he loses his job. Jerry the Dumbo GM Jones would lose entire season with Romo mistakes, and injuries. But, you are what you are. At least he is listening to someone about building competition and capability to start at every position.

The Cowboys Dak Attack will only get better with Dalton as back up QB.

I agree that signing Dalton was a Smart move. I’m glad the cowboys did it. I’m glad that Mike McCarthy is clearly having a positive impact.

i have to disagree about them never having a good
Backup behind romo.

for most years. That is true.

they did have Kitna or Orton for backup 4 separate years though. Those two were quality backups.

It is a small pressure move.

The reality is the state of the league, when they get back to work and how things roll out.

This is not the NFL as we normally know it.
I think it's a bit of a nudge...remember they had leverage so we thought with Zeke? We really didn't have leverage though. If you are Dak right now, there is no way you aren't a wee bit concerned that you aren't getting the $$$ you think you are. There was no hardball to be played with Zeke and Zeke knew that. We don't know how good Dalton could be on a team like this, and by signing him Dallas can play hardball if they want. I think I repeated myself 3x, lol.

I think this expedites Dak signing is what I mean, haha.!

Uh oh! Covering their bases or something else????

Could be an indication they’re not even close to getting Dak signed so they’re preparing themselves in the event he holds out. Hard to imagine he would throw away over $31 million on the franchise tag and kiss off a season to sit out. The Cowboys aren’t taking any chances and a move like this could pressure Dak to back off his demands and sign.

I’ll take that bet. At this point, he isn’t holding out because he wants a 3-year deal. He is holding out because he’s waiting for Mahomes to sign and he knows the market price is going up. He’s not signing until after training camp.

Zero loyalty. I truly do hope they trade him.

Lol aint no way in hell Dak gets Mahomes money. If he even hints at that we need to move him asap.

Great power move by Jerry.

If Dak doesn't sign his franchise tag or extension, you roll with Dalton.
He will sign as he has no other team willing to give him 30 million for 1 season of football....

Only TRUE talent holds out....right Zeke??? Right, Emmitt???

Great signing by the Cowboys. It's nice to finally have a decent backup QB. Now if Dak tears a ligament in his throwing shoulder and breaks a finger in his throwing hand he won't be force to play.
