...you mean the Cooper Rush era.....right?

Rush is scheduled to make $2.1 million this year.

Lucky for us that non of it is guaranteed...…………....so yeah, the dude is good as gone, we aint paying a 3rd sting QB $2 million

Exactly...……………..its called competition.

With Rush and the 7th rounder sitting on the bench, Dak was sleeping like a baby at night. All of sudden, things have changed. Maybe Dak is thinking that 5 year deal the Cowboys offered aint soo bad after all and he backs off this "4 yr deal or nothing" attitude he has had lately.

Also it is a message to all players the club is serious and no position is safe

hopefully that long term offer has sailed and we're now in an open comp and they'll reconsider after the 2020 season plays out.

Exactly! And, next year, if we can't resign him, maybe he becomes a nice comp pick for us. Great add for that reason. And he's a competent QB if something happens to Dak.
for how this might play out some team might give us their house for Dak as the season progresses and they lose their starter.

This makes me happy. QB#2 has been a position that this club has routinely neglected, We've been lucky, so far, that we haven't needed one but we have been one Prescott injury away from a wasted season since Romo left. Super glad that they've decided to take to position seriously.

McCarthy usually has good backups. He had Rodgers backing up Favre until he left for the Jets and Vikings. He had Flynn for a while who was good behind Rodgers. This smells like a McCarthy move to me.

Ya really! It would also be the 1st open competition Dak has ever had for a starting job. He got every starting job he ever had as a QB because somebody got injured. Hopefully the Cowboys will let Dalton compete for the Job

I see this as a move to improve our backup situation for the present.

It's also a fallback option to provide better strength if Dak holds out.

It's obvious to me that Dalton is a better backup than Cooper Rush.

In any eventuality, we shall likely see who performs better in camp!
