Some one will call the Cowboys abouy Andy. Dallas will get a 1st round pick next year. In a shocker trade. Any takers? Better hope Darnold stays healthy and the Jets dont call you might see a one for two swap?
Adams and a 2nd for Andy Dalton????

Good security move if Dak stays stubborn and doesn’t sign

I guarantee you next week when asked about the Dalton signing, Stephen will continue to say the same thing he has always said: Dak is our guy and we want him here long term blah blah blah... Andy is a solid vet QB and we wanted to improve our roster etc...

Dalton is an EXCELLENT choice for backup QB. Much better than Rush and can hopefully play well enough for us to win a few games should Dak get hurt... but if you are saying that the FO is sending a “sign the deal or we are giving the keys to Andy” message to Dak, I think that is mistaken.

:hammer:

Thanks for saving me all that typing!

I see Dalton getting signed as excellent backup insurance in case Dak gets injured or struggles.

If it helps getting Dak and his agent back from Saturn third ring out, that will be great for the Cowboys.

this was a brilliant signing in so many ways by MM and the front office. THEY just got themselves a cheap proven insurance policy at QB. Cooper Rush and Thorson will be on notice. This is healthy competition for Dak and the QB room. Makes the team better. Andy Dalton is HOPING he gets a crack at starting...licking his chops as he looks at the wealth of weapons we have. Dak is way better...but its nice to see a vet ready to go in case something happens.

This tells me that the front office is feeling GREAT about the current team after the draft. And that they wanted to help ensure that a quarterback injury doesn't derail what they feel could be a special season.

Dalton’s playoff numbers, 55.7% completion, 1 TD, 6 INT, 3.9 Y/A, 57.8 rating in 4 games all WC losses.

This is during Dalton’s prime with All Pro receivers AJ Green, Pro Bowler Gresham, thousand yard rushers Benson and Hill....

Dak’s playoff numbers 64.1% completion 5TD, 2 INT, 7.7 Y/A, 95.7 rating, 1-2 record.

One and done if Cowboys must depend on Dalton for a playoff game.

If Dak goes down, it doesn't matter anyway. But Dalton is definitely a guy that can win a few games for you in the regular season.

He's a borderline NFL starter, as in he's probably in the bottom 25-32 starters. Why I'm surprised QB-needy team didn't sign him.

Are you talking about the Cowboys? Why would this be a bad move? I think they will get Dak signed, but if I'm wrong, they have a solid option, and if I'm right they have one of the best backups in the NFL for a year.
When it comes to free agency and contract negotiations they arw very lacking. Seems like they just drag their feet except on bum players

Dalton was ruined when Cincy got ahold of him. Just like Cleveland and DC. The great news is, he wont be asked to start and he can soak up MM's system and gain some new confidence in the process. I feel Andy is much better than he ever showed at Cincy. He had 1 real weapon in AJ Green. Here, if he MUST start for a couple games, he will flourish. I think in Cincy he had no chance and had instant pressure on him. They asked him to cook steak dinner with much lesser ingredients. JUST STUPID. Cincy was cheap. HERE, its all about winning and he wont have all that pressure only on him. He can blend in because he wont feel like he's the end all be all. I think He and Dak can help each other. Competition made He and Romo better for those 2 years. They fed off that. I think the same will happen here. Good solid signing.SMART.
