he is 32. never won a playoff game. had talent around him, so people can't even argue that. he is a great back up at this point. he can play the first 6 games if Dak decides not to play 6 games. he is heck of a lot better than Rush.

I'm willing to start the season with Dalton. Dalton has never had THIS much talent around him on offense. He's had some good offenses surrounding AJ Green but now he has a stud RB, 3 standout receivers, and a good line.

Agree, but as of now there is no Dak on the team to push.

He has to make a decision if he wants to be on this team or not.

Crap, or get off the pot
Things will be decided very soon. I believe he gets signed.

Dalton has had plenty of talent around him over the years and was never able to utilize them or come close to winning a playoff. he has had players like chad Johnson, AJ green, RBs like benson, Sanu, Bernard, Gresham, Marvin Jones, Eifert, LaFell, Mixon, Tyler Boyd, and they have had some very good OL men on their team as well and some better defenses and defensive players than cowboys. its not like he hasn't had talent around him. and as we put all of the blame on Dak not winning last year, excusing everything else, then Dalton has never won any playoff games. he will never ever lead a team to a superbowl or a championship game. he is at best insurance for the first 6 games and in case of injury. he is much better than Rush, for only 5 more million a year.

Did Trent Dilfer or Dan Marino win a Superbowl?

Mark Sanchez won more play off games than Tony Romo.

The opening question is such a lazy throw away comment. The Bengals were not built to succeed in the play offs regardless of their QB.

The one season they had a real chance to go further in the playoffs. A late blatant nasty hit took Dalton out of the game, early. Steelers went on to win. No penalty called and it should have been. The hit was by Harrison. Another reason to hate the Steelers and wish them nothing but bad luck.

Red was a good choice as back up, but he's not better than Dak.

Granted, everyone thought Tanehill was a bust and he redirected Tenn.

It will be interesting to see if Dak signs his franchise tag offer. I'd be comfortable seeing what Dalton could do in the season opener.

I thought hopes and dreams were to be in the post-season and win the SB.

The price ain’t going down Jerry.

Oh, the pain oh the desperation....you have my sympathies Dak-Zoid.
And by the way, say BYE BYE to any contract you have been dreaming about for your Dak....

Dak has won 1 more playoff game than Dalton, and with a much much better OL, RB and WRs.

Dak is better than Dalton, no doubt. But I don't think Dak's 1 more playoff win over him is worth an extra $30 million.

Defense lost those playoff games, not Dak.

first off hes backup ins second off why does Dak and romo get the Garett was more the cause as well as other coaches etc for not having deeper playoff runs ie outcoached by better coaches but Dalton now its all his fault lol//

good try we could easily go 9-7 , 10-6, and 8-8 ith Dalton maybe no deeper in playoffs but rather pay 3mil vs 34 for the same FN results dude seriously.. Daks done squat either..they are similar Qbs in production so lets tap the brakes..

the message is to Dak you aint worth what you are asking so yes the price was never where he thought it was, his employers set salary's not player and agents,,many good to great players are traded or cut or simply let go when deals run out.. Employers dont have to cave to insane offers..

you have it backwards..

It’s comical watching the excitement over Dalton.

Why? He's a great deal as a backup to Dak! Hopefully he never has to see the field, but we know he can help win games if Dak goes down.

Dalton is a good, but not great QB. He is the best backup QB the Cowboys have had in a long time. It doesn't matter if Dalton is better than Dak. Dak is the starter, Dalton is the backup. If Dak decides to sit out, the Cowboys will have a good backup plan. If Dak gets hurt, Dalton will be able to QB the team with little drop-off from Dak. In the age of the salary cap it hard to have two starting caliber QBs but it could be argued easily that Dalton is a starting caliber backup. I think we should be happy, and will be very happy if for some reason Dak can't or won't play.
