I still think we bring in Griffin

They wont worry about DE till they find out if Gregory and/or Aldon Smith will be reinstated.

That’s probably right, but Crawford is also “one of those guys”, like Heath or Romo or a few others—every year, denounced by the fanbase.

Sure, except for the fact that Romo was good and actually contributed to wins.

Thankfully, this the last is the last of the sacred cows. The guys this team inexplicably felt were invaluable when the fact is they offered little value on the field, and making plays that mattered.

Just on a one year deal though, then either use our first on a D.E next year or sign a FA long term. Bring him in and we are fully stocked,....we can compete for a Super bowl this year. Maybe a couple minor moves/tweaks late in camp. Maybe a vet swing tackle although I think we can get by with Williams/ Knight, and a veteran backup LB. Other than that we are good to go IMO.......

Griffin is going to want big money. I'd take him for a 1 year deal for something fair. I'd love to get a swing tackle. If we get a good swing tackle the offseason is complete.

Besides being too old for Dallas' roster, there's a reason why no team has picked him up as of yet. He has serious mental health issues. The man needs to retire and take care of himself.

I think the guy has a huge upside and now has a proven position coach and scheme that can get the most out of him.

I’d rather go the “cheaper and younger” route..and I’m not sure why folks aren’t talking about it more.

Markus Golden would be the best choice, imo. Not to mention it would rob our rival, the NY Giants, of last years sack leader (10 sacks). That’s the equivalent of a double move.

Markus is a “Lunchpail” type DE. He’s not flashy, but just causes havoc for the OL, yet still is productive. Golden had some injuries a couple years back that slowed him down, but his sacks and QB pressures are comparable to Clowney’s. He wouldn’t be a progress stopper if Armstrong, Crawford, Anae, Smith, Gregory, or even Ron’Dell Carter started to show up. (That’s a lot of potential)

He’s great against the run and he abuses OL with his wreckless style of play. If he stays healthy, he easily could shore up the RDE position, exp on 1-2downs. Then throw in Gregory, Anae, or Smith as the pass rush specialists. His disruption at the POA, will allow Lawrence, LBs, and DT to get home if he couldn’t.

I don’t normally advocate wreckless players as a whole, but having 1-2 that just annoy the opponent is just fine.

Watch his film and tell me what you think. Side note: I know it’s a weird comparison, so don’t @ me.. but Markus reminds me of what Marion Barber would look like had he played defense. Like Barber, Golden would be a handful for opposing OL.

Golden was tendered by NYG otherwise he would also be my first choice, tied with Jadaveon Clowney.

Griffen is great fallback option however.

Griffin is so much better than Crawford and he could be had by spending just a couple million more than Crawford.

And Crawford’s versatility by being able to play DT doesn’t mean anything now that we have McCoy, Poe, Gallimore, Woods and Hill. Crawford will only play DE now and Griffin is a better DE.

No use for him if Smith and Gregory are here. I think that’s the hope at this point.

Agreed and I like the dlinemen brought in via the draft too. If Smith and Gregory don't get reinstated maybe you then make a move.

If Aldon and Gregory come back, I’m more than fine with them TCraw, Jackson, Jelks, Anae. That being said, Griffen on a one year deal would be fine with me if we cut Crawford. If not, we are going to cut 2 or 3 young Dlineman who could develop for a guy on a one year deal.
Practice squad problems are good to have. Means we have tons of talent.

I would be so totally cool with this, but I'm certain Stephen is telling pops: Let's look at what we got dad!

I think the only way we go after Griffen or Clowney is if the commissioner doesn't reinstate either Gregory or Smith.

Nice catch.. I didn’t realize the Giants places a the rarely used unrestricted tag on Markus. Smart move on their part, sucks for any team that signs him.

Although, Dal would only have to give up a compensatory pick for him. I suppose the question is.. is he worth it?

My thing is.. I would mine Griffin, but he is older and prob wants more than Golden.

Thanks for letting me know. That said.. unless Griffins asking price goes down, I’m good with rolling with the guys we have. Exp if we account for the DT upgrades that will surely assist whom ever mans RDE

I’m very excited about the idea of Aldon Smith, Randy Gregory and Bradlee Anae.

I’m also very worried about the idea of our pass rush being dependent on a player who hasn’t played in 5 years, a player who hasn’t played in 2 years and a 5th round rookie.

We need to cut Crawford and sign one of Griffin, Clowney or Golden. If Aldon and Gregory play, awesome, our depth is incredible.

So, what is the tender on Golden worth? Realistically, that's all you would have to beat if he doesn't get a multi-year offer he likes.

1000% will never happen. And 100% shouldn't happen.

We also don't need a swing tackle.

Either way, we are not fully stocked by a long shot.
