Is it to meet Pollard? Learn from Armstrong? Be able to tell your kids you played with Jarwin? Don't make me read the article.

It’s a couple of things. The fact that the Cowboys will use a hybrid 4-3 3-4 means he’ll fit in well (he’s a classic “tweener”) and his family are Cowboys fans.

But I’m guessing the extra signing bonus had something to do with it. ;)

I wonder what Anae has that Carter doesnt at this point other than more exposure at Utah.

I think Jackson and Jelks may both find their way to the street come August.

A lot of that is up to Uncle Roger.

Carter at 269 lbs can play 3 tech or edge. He played both positions at JMU.

May be athletic enough to drop back in coverage too.

No it’s because he can play with Dak the Man and the fact that he thought Garrett was still the coach.

The Cowboys are looking for dogs on defense, and Carter wants them to know he's a whole kennel. "A coach can't teach me how to have that dog in me," he said. "A lot of players claim they have it, but I got it. The Cowboys saw it [ahead of the draft] and I'll show it [in person] once I get there. ... My dad just raised me different.

"Everything for me, I got out of the mud. I didn't get drafted, but this is just a part of my story. I made it this far from a small school. ...[and now] I get the chance to play for America's Team. This is an opportunity for me to show everybody what I'm made of, and I can't wait to do it."
We can't wait to see it!!!

Ron'Dell Carter explains why he turned down 24 teams to sign with the Cowboys after the 2020 NFL Draft

The highly-sought after UDFA is bringing a ton of upside and grit to Dallas

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...gn-with-the-cowboys-after-the-2020-nfl-draft/

I've watched all of Carter's snaps in 5 full games.

He had 12 sacks in 2019 and getting sacks was not even his top assignment.

His top focus was edge contain against the run or a QB rolling out.

He is very strong and often played 2-gap against OTs. He man-handled many of those FSC OTs.

He would be on their outside shoulder then shove them over and get back inside when needed.

Many of his pass rushes were very controlled as he always had an eye on contain.

He does not wow with freakish athleticism, but he was an extremely effective player.

His 2019 accolades:
  • Started in all 16 games at defensive end
  • STATS FCS Buck Buchanan Award Runner-Up
  • Consensus First Team All-American

At the end of the day he was undrafted.

Drew Pearson, Cliff Harris, Cornell Green, Michael Bennett, Jason Peters, Tony Romo, Jeff Saturday, Chris Harris, Nate Newton, Wes Welker, Priest Holmes, Antonio Gates, Warren Moon, Kurt Warner...all of them were undrafted.

Guys go undrafted for lots of reasons, but some of them can play. 20+ teams were trying to sign this kid, so let's give him a shot.

If you read the Article you get a glimpse why he wasnt drafted. But because all of yall lazy i will put the key statement here:

Wasnt drafted because

- Played for Small School so didnt have National TV (Tape) besides the Playoffs.
- Coaches need and want to see FCS Players in Person because of Lack of Tape
- That didnt happen cause of No Pro Day, no Official 30 Visits, no 1v1 Interviews

In a normal year hes a Mid Round Pick.

25+ Teams wanted to sign this Kid. Theres Reason for that.

I think he has a good chance to beat out Jackson and Jelks and secure a Roster Spot.
