he needs to bite the bullet and sign. Dallas needs to be more flexible on the years too. No reason to be at a stalemate.

If you were around when Emmitt missed the first two games of the season over a contract where you just as upset?

I honestly think it's nothing more than a 1 year insurance policy and that it's 1 year because they think that Dinucci with the rocket arm that they drafted will be the backup QB after this season since they just released Rush.
.
Didn’t see they released Rush. Should have known. I assumed our new draft pick would be the back up.

The herd is on and said they offered 32 million and turned it down. Last offer was a 4 year deal that was supposedly way better offer. Likely close to goff money. It was turned down. In comes Dalton. He thinks MM may have something to do with Dalton coming in.

Dalton and Daks first 4 years look really close in stats. Except Dalton had more playoffs. It’s a team game.

If the team has already come down to 4 years with Goff money and he turned it down, then they need to seriously consider cutting bait. Not cutting him outright but looking to move him for picks at some point if possible. The whole 4 year thing so he can cash in again just tells me he plans on holding the team hostage again in 4 years. I think I might be looking to add another high pick to those comp picks coming next year and make the draft about finding a QB.

Agreed. I actually wondered why if he signed so cheap that JJ didn’t do a 2 year deal. Or even 3 years with clauses to get out after 2 years. Then if he ended up starting and doing well we would have a cheap starter. Lol. Even as a backup it should have been a 2 year deal. IMO.

But the signing is a sign they are doing something else.

He wouldn't sign a cheap 2 year deal. He wants to hit free agency on day 1 next year seeking a max deal. The timing for that has past for this year.

Let me first say I'm a Dak fan.....heart and soul. But if the current offer pays him Goff money or more, he playing a dangerous game for many reasons.

  • This isn't the same country it was at the end of the season. The economy is tanking, we are facing record-breaking unemployment. The last thing fans/media wanna see is a disgruntling player arguing over whether or not to accept a contract paying him $33-34M vs $35-37M.
  • Who knows how this is going to affect the league financially a year from now. I read tweet Friday that implied it not impossible to think this thing could force the league to cut the salary cap for the first time ever. If that happens, the currents offer goes away.....fast.
  • League office is laying off employees. Hell, even the Goodell has voluntarily slashed his salary from $44M to 0.
  • He could himself quarantined for reasons we know but can't discuss here.
  • Finally, DO NOT underestimate the signing of Dalton. He appears to everything a team in leadership, work ethic and as noted in the tweet below, he's damn excited to be here. No, he hasn't played at Dak's level over the last few years but there's no reason to think you can't win with him.
  • What if he decides to play on the tag rather than accepting the current offer and injury forces him the miss several games and Dalton lights it up? Now we have a real mess (LOL).
  • Yes, we have heard Stephen and Jerry say over and over again, Dak's the guy. But did we not hear Romo was the guy also before the start of the 2016 season. My point is strange things can happen but if all reports are true, Daks has a good offer on the table. Maybe not exactly what he had hoped but good enough NOT to be moaning over a few million bucks, especially with the direction the economy is headed.
SIGN THE CONTRACT NOW DAK!!!!!

Brother just died. Just saying.

That’s the problem. We just don’t know the offered back and forth. One day after this is over we may find out the offers. I am sure his agent is asking way more than the worth and I know SJ is initially lowballing. But our latest offers are legit trying to get this done. So, what’s the actual offers. Either way this was a good signing..

Both wentz and goffs deals were 4 years also. Seems these players agents are all doing the same tactics now...

This would hold much more weight, IMO, if we had just arrived at this point and then his Brother passed on and that's creating delay. I would understand that but, this has been going on for two years now. His Brother hasn't been dying for two years and yet, we have no willingness to sign a deal.

I appreciate the fact but I feel like it's inconsequential to the actual negotiation. That's just my opinion.

Lol. And if he never sees the field this year then next year he will be available cheap again. I gotcha. But by then our rookie QB may have his job. This rookie draft pick had got a rocket arm and accurate..

I doubt very seriously that this Rookie will be ready by next year but hey, if he is, that's good. But here's the thing, to me. I really see this as a holding action to be able to assess exactly where we are at QB. If Dak signs and holds out for an extended amount of time, then I'd guess Dalton see's much more paying time and I'd guess that his contract then becomes a 7 mil deal, as opposed to a 3 mil deal. Same if Dak never signs. I'd imagine that if either one of those things happen, Dak is probably traded and the team is moving on. However, if Dak eventually signs his tender and reports to camp, then I'd imagine it's a 3 mil deal and depending on how Dak performs in this upcoming season, a deal gets done long term.

I've said it many times, if Dak had won a Championship or even gotten to a Championship game, I doubt this deal is ever even an issue. Jerry would just writing a check right now but there is a reason, IMO, Jerry brought in McCarthy. Jerry want's to know what he has before he signs up for a record deal IMO. I think that if McCarthy comes out and says, after a year, Dak's the real deal, he gets his record deal. If he doesn't, then I think we might be moving on because it then makes no sense to pay that kind of money if you are not that guy. If Dak isn't going to take anything less then the writing is on the wall.

That's just what I believe.

Makes sense... Dak is average and should be treated as such....
I think he is above average and the team we have around him has helped elevate him and his negotiation numbers. But not 40 million a year or more than a SB winning QB is getting. He has said he don’t expect that. So what’s the numbers being offered. Lol.

And MM may be a reason Dalton is here. His first 4 years he had a good team around him and put up similar numbers. I don’t think Dalton is the answer either. But man if Dak sits a year and Dalton takes us to a SB or championship game. Lmao. Then Daks agent maybe out of business..

I feel like anything can happen right now. This is a weird year...who knows what the 2020 season will look out. There will most likely be a season but it will be very different from the regular NFL we are used to. Maybe Dak realizes this and thinks it's not worth it to play in what could be a watered-down 2020 season.

If I am Dak then I sign that tag yesterday. It’s guaranteed money. If it’s half a season or what ever then he is paid.
