Wow, so much for competition. I wasn't that keen on him but not even allowing him to compete for a position after giving him a contract?

Seems rather insincere on Jerry's part. For one thing, would he have cut Rush is his contract had included guaranteed money?

This doesnt exactly persuade Dak to reduce the guaranteed part of the contract being negotiated.

How many years did Rush have to show something? There's little downside to churning the roster. This is what good organizations do.

Apparently, MM liked Rush enough to sign off on his tender of 2.1M.
Drafting DiNucci means he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
I don't know about Thorson, but somebody last year liked him enough to be here maybe it's KM.

How bout that tender?!

Yes. It's the only thing I don't like about this move.

The board is going to be LITTERED on game days with “Bench Dak start Dalton” threads whenever Dak isn’t perfect or has an off game. They’re going to have to merge the threads. The game chat is going to be loaded with fans screaming for Dalton every time Dak misses a throw or the Cowboys are having a tough day. Assuming we have a season it’s going to have to go great for the Cowboys and Dak or the cries for Dalton are going to consume the board.

Eh?
Kenny Anderson?
Boomer?
Dalton?

Cinci is not a graveyard for QBs.

Cincinnati certainly isn’t a graveyard for QBs that Cleveland is but it’s not exactly a place where they’ve had any recent success. Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton combined for only 8 playoff appearances and were 1-7 and that lone playoff win came with Palmer.

They haven't been successful in the post season but their QBs have had very succesful careers. QB graveyards and playoff losses are completely different ways of describing a franchise.

They haven’t been very successful period the past couple of decades. I believe since 91 they’ve only won a couple of playoff games. They’ve had the number one overall pick twice since 2004. Carson Palmer’s QB record was just over 500. Dalton’s QB record is 9 games over 500. Every decade or so Cincinnati ends up moving on from their QB and look for another one. It’s not like their QBs were finished when they moved on from them. Palmer still had a few years left in him and Dalton is only 32. Cincinnati is obviously putting some of the blame for their lack of success on Dalton which is why they released him and drafted Burrow. Let’s face it Cincinnati isn’t the most appealing team for a QB to go to. There was talk several weeks ago that Joe Burrow might not want to go there. A QBs career isn’t very successful if they don’t have much playoff success. QBs are ultimately judged by their postseason records.

And if Dak is playing horribly over an extended period of games, he'll deserve it. Unlike when it'll happen ... after every bad pass or a subpar game.

He’s never played poorly over an extended period and that certainly won’t happen with the talent on this offense. He won’t have to play poorly for the Dak haters to scream for Dalton. A lot of fans are starting to turn against Dak due to his contract demands. Just look around the board.

You read my original response and you'll see I've already responded to it. Sorry, I've got other things to do besides hunting for what was posted yesterday way too many posts back. I've already responded to your original post. It seems to me to be no more than your reading comprehension that's the problem. If I'm not getting through to you, by now, it's likely a hopeless cause. I've tried already and you don't agree. I can live with that.
So you get we are still talking about my original post and just want to talk about something else so you can be right about something. Got it

If the plan is to tank for Fields (who I'd love to get) you don't sign Dalton. You roll with Cooper Rush and Dinucci. THAT would be tanking.
Fields is certainly intriguing. DO you think he has NFL skills? Dang Ohio State has had some silly QB's tearing it up......but no legit NFL product yet.

Oh, I agree that he won't have to play poorly for that to happen. I guess I'm just putting in a caveat because I'm not completely aboard the Dak train yet. I'd actually like to see him play on the tag before Dallas fully commits to him long term.

I don't say that because I believe he's a bad quarterback because he's not. I say it because I don't have a firm grip on how good he's going to be as a quarterback. (I'd feel the same way BTW if we were talking about Goff or Wentz. I'm not 100 percent sold on any of this group of QBs yet.)

Now, I'm absolutely not expecting Prescott to play poorly enough to be pulled by Dalton (or to play on the tag since there's still plenty of time to reach a deal). We have nothing in his relatively short history to suggest that's going to happen despite the anti-Dak crowd.
