Great news! Dak will look good in his natural position holding the clipboard on the sideline. Born to be a NFL backup QB. I have no problem with Dak being the 2 on this team.

Make room in the trophy case because the Red Rifle is back in Texas. Yeehaw! :muttley:

5 other teams were interested in Dalton but he choose Dallas because he felt it was his best option to start. This goes against narrative that he will just be good boy and hold clipboard for Dak....na he came to start!
Not sure where you got that from but if he wanted to start, there were 4 other teams that he had a better chance to go in and start than Dallas. Please don't compare Dak to Dalton because Dak is a much better QB in all categories than Dalton and all you have to watch is any game last year. Dalton is the backup and will be all season.

Nope. Dak is the starter. Back on it. To think anything else is bizarreness.
Well, he ain't today. As of today, Dalton is the starter.

If Dak wants to be the starter he needs to sign a contract and come get it.

This was a smart move by Dalton and especially smart by the Cowboys. The ball is in Dak's corner now.

Dalton is 32 years old, I wouldn't mind seeing him hang around for another 3 or 4 years as a back up.

I’ve already posted this but there’s no doubt in my mind that Dalton chose the Cowboys because there’s an opportunity to play with Dak still unsigned and hinting of a holdout. Dalton committed for only one year to see how this situation plays out. If the situation between Dak and the Cowboys gets ugly, they could rescind the franchise tag and move on and this could become Dalton’s team. There’s several scenarios that could play out giving Dalton an opportunity to start this season. This signing was more about the Cowboys covering themselves, giving them insurance in the event they can’t come to an agreement with Dak.

The only way this would be fact would be if they told him he could compete for the QB1 job. The QB1 has not missed a game because of injury and if he signs that tag, he's the #1 and it's not even his job to lose.

The Joneses are so afraid of a QB controversy that they wouldn't allow the former #1 compete to get his job back when he was healthy. They're not astute enough to make this QB prove himself against decent competition because they want him to be their QB. It's not about football; it's about the show.

How has Prescott hinted at a holdout? The deadline for signing that tag is not close at all. He's got plenty of time and these buffoons are still trying to negotiate a long term deal and talking about it in the media.

Getting Dalton for that amount of money is ridiculous, they should be dancing in the street because they finally have a QB that can step in should he be needed and use the weapons.

There are more QB's than teams for right now as evidenced by Newton being on the bricks and Dalton can come home and cool it for this season and not hurt his stock should he want to go for a #1 job again. I think he and his agent read the room right for QB's right now.

Have to consider what he's been through in his career in Sing Sing CIN that's as bad a cluster as DAL because of the owner/GM combo. He might be just tired of all the BS he's been through and just taking a back seat and cooling his heels at home with his family might be the ideal situation for this year.

We should have taken Jalen Hurts in the 2nd round instead of Trevon Diggs.

The more I look at that draft class the worse it is. I'm at a B- now.

We also should’ve taken Jalen Reagor Targaryen in the 1st instead of CeeDee. You can’t teach speed.

Burns doesn’t it. You’ll be alright.
You aren't alright it appears.

Get well soon!

It's easy to spot those with very little football knowledge. You're the type that got burned by Dak turning out to be good and just embarrassing your initial thoughts about him. Every step of the way he just proved you wrong more and more.

It's gotten so bad you've had to take solace in our team signing an adequate backup to a one year $3M contract. You're spamming the board with glee and it's just super pathetic lmao. Really reall sad.
And then when Dak starts and performs some more you'll have to pull something else out of your arse. Endless cycle.

Regardless, do you agree that maybe Dalton does feel this way?
Do I agree on what Andy Dalton feels. Never met the guys so how should I know. Reread what you just wrote. Do you agree that maybe Dalton feels this way? LoL

They're not all three time pro-bowler, who's had a taste of success.
Granted that, but sometimes players have to accept circumstances for a short period of time until they can find a better circumstance. In any case, I suspect Dalton may feel there is a possibility Dak doesn't get signed and he could step in, but I suspect he also isn't sure of that. The Cowboys have not rescinded the franchise tag on Dak, and to our knowledge have not broken off negotiations, so Dalton has to know there is a chance he could spend a year as the backup.

I doubt very much the Cowboys asked for a longer term deal. I think it was a mutual decision to go with one year. Beneficial to Dalton because even if he spends a year as a backup, he isn't locked into that situation longer than a year, and beneficial to the Cowboys because it provides protection if Dak doesn't get signed, but doesn't marry them to Dalton long term if Dak does sign.

Show me where Dalton was announced the starter.

I don’t think either party wanted a longer than a year. Dalton still wants to be a starter and didn’t want to be locked down as a backup longer than a year. He’s only going to make 3 million this season. He’s mainly here to give the Cowboys insurance in the event Dak holds out. A backup QB wasn’t a real pressing need for the Cowboys due to Dak’s durability. He hasn’t missed a start in four seasons. Even with Romo’s durability issues the Cowboys didn’t go out and sign a viable veteran QB in 2016. They feel they need one now due to Dak’s contract situation. If Dak does hold out they covered themselves with Dalton.

Then he is a complete idiot. LOL

And he undervalues himself at 3 million starter money. :muttley:
