no, and they went 2-14, but take a look at his recievers and OL over the years...Dalton is a Jag, no matter how you cut it

I find it amazing that you are willing to write so many excuses for a has been QB who just got cut from his team, who accomplished nothing in his career, yet trash Dak who has already done more than Dalton in his entire career.....

I guess you like losers, perhaps you relate.

Guess what...Dak is a JAG also. Wins and making playoffs matter for QB's who want to get paid big. Dak fails on both counts and Dalton qualifies until we draft someone better.

so you are writing the end of the book for Dak already after 4 years. he has had 2 playoff appearances and one win...that's with Garrett as the head coach....lets not forget who he had as his head coach.

and in 4 years, Dak is 1-2 in the playoffs. he already has more playoff wins than Dalton in his entire career who is 0-5. what we clearly see in Loser Dalton is that he folds when stakes are high.....he is a mini-bus driver at best, great back up, but that's about it.....in any of his years in the league he hasnt' come close to what Dak has done in 4 years...

btw, where are your logical facts of your OPINION that Dak is a Jag...… all indications are that he is exactly the opposite. if you can't provide any, its just an opinion and you know what they say about opinions...everyone is got one, just like they have an arsehole....

The facts are that we've just signed a QB of similar overall ability (meh starter) for only $7m.

I think Jerry is kind of fed up with Dak and I don’t see him caving this time like he did with zeke . The math is not there for Dak . Rescinding then tag may become a reality if Dak does not show flexibility soon .

The final analysis is the Dak is not that much better than Dalton who is signed for this year. Why pay Dak 30+mil per year for the next few years when that money can be used to get more weapons for Dalton and the defense. Dak is no longer a value player for the Boys and Andy is. Embrace the Churn! We should have done the same thing with Zeke.

how does a thread like this get to 28 pages?
Dak is a far better player than Dalton. it isn't close.
no, the Cowboys should not let Dak walk. that would be incredibly stupid.

No you are wrong. They are getting a QB that is faurly similar for a fraction of the cost. Let Dak walk. He is a middle tier QB with top tier wants.

Dalton can take the cowboys to the SB. Dak can't. Simple.

Aikman's stats were great for his era when DBs were legally allowed to mug wrs.

Respect the rings or find a new team.

I just wanted to answer your question from a thread that's been locked. What better place than a Dak thread?

You asked why Dak passing on millions and working for 400k was advantageous, right?

If Dak was signed to extension after his 3rd year it does not replace or delete the 4th year of his rookie contract. It's an extension, not a contract renegotiation. The only thing different would be that he would have received his signing bonus. His actual new contract would start in 2020, not last year. So he didn't lose anything, he's just getting the signing bonus a year later. If anything Jerry lost a year to spread out the signing bonus. Had Dak been signed last year he could have used the 4th year of Dak's rookie contract to help spread out the bonus.

But this isn't advantageous to Dak. It's basically a wash unless he can get more than he would have.

Is dak 7 times better than dalton? because that is the salary difference.
Dak is a fairly good qb with flaws, Dalton is fairly good, maybe not as good at running, but dak doesnt
run much.
Dalton may be a better passer. he is older.
But if dallas let dak go, they could then grab clowney and make the defense awesome. maybe even
another safety .
With a really good defense I think dalton and dinucci would be more than good enough, and much much
cheaper.

If they keep dak they wont be able to have the really good defense they need.

Dak is head and shoulders better than Dalton, who is now on his way to backup-dom of the NFL for the rest of his career.....he is in the last chapter of his career.....we know the book on Dalton....he is not going to take you to the promise land. he is not capable, he folds when it really counts...so signing him, may win you the contract negotiations...but won't bring any trophies....Dalton has no chance of ever doing that.

You must be joking. We aren't winning any trophies any time soon with KC loaded the way they are and with that QB. Everyone else is playing for second and in our case 5th or 6th.

that's what everyone says about the previous champs...they said the same thing about NE, same thing about seattle, etc....and if that's your mentality, then lets just all write a letter to NFL office and just ask them to crown KC as champs for trhe next 5 years and eliminate all games......why play the games if KC is unbeatable force!

Be specifc, mini tornado.
And never write a sentence containing Dak and the true greats of NFL football.

The story hasn’t been and shouldn’t be written yet. The career just started.Defending. Defending Troy Aikman. Shouldn’t even be a question. First ridiculous statement. Second calling Prescott an ant .

It's a lock that Dak will play this year, despite what we think or say to the contrary.

Jerry and Stephen aren't inclined to even consider such a thing. We all know that.

One thing is for sure -- whoever has the talent and the good fortune to QB this team will be lucky. I think both of our QBs are quite competent, with a fine roster to support either one. Whoever leads the team should defeat most of the NFL teams he happens to play. Hopefully, either one or both will lead the team to better things. For all we know, it might very well take both of them to make it happen. o_O

Ah, but time is money. The sooner you get it, the more its worth. I'm not arguing years on a contract. I'm saying its better to get 30 million today than a year from today. Leveon Bell played this game and lost big time. He'll never recoup the money he turned down in Pittsburgh. I think the reason Dak and Dallas are so far apart is b/c Daks agent is trying to recoup the 29.6M they left on the table last year. Dak needs to be in the 37M/year range on a 4 year deal for what he did last year to make any sense.[/QUOTE]
