Maybe that's why I struggle with all the extremes. If someone wants to rationally disagree with me, I can at least see what you are saying and respect it even if I don't agree with it. But there are far too many Dak is great so pay him or Dak sucks so replace him posts for my taste.

The Jerry Jones Cowboys have never won a playoff game without Jimmy Johnson or a Ginger QB (or ex-QB) on the payroll.

Unless Jimmy wants to come back, this was a no-brainer signing.

it is not just ability it is also price and how that impacts the team and its future. tbh i dont see how any one could watch dak last season against the eagles, saints, patriots, packers, bears, etc and say he is orders of magnitude better then dalton...because that is what he is going to cost.

Dak was good against the Saints with a 76.6 QBR with the team letting him down, Dak played through injury against the Eagles the second time, and the Pat's game was some of the worst conditions possible against an elite secondary(yet Dak still outplayed Brady in those conditions).

If you think those were bad, then you would definitely have a rude awakening with Dalton.

Intentionally downgrading your QB position for the next 10 years is never a good plan.

Dalton was one of the most proficient passers when given a solid supporting cast. He led the AFC with a 106.3 passer rating in 2015.

He also holds single season records for passing yards(4,293 in 2013) and touchdowns ( 33) in 2013.

I think we could present a pretty good argument Dalton is most experienced and proven backup QB we’ve signed since perhaps Bernie Kosar. A QB who might mean the season isn’t over if Dak goes down or holds out.

I’d argue it’s a great move for the Cowboys.

All I have to say is go to You tube and re-watch Dak versus Dalton 2016. Not even close. And that was a rookie Dak at that.
