What if we can do this?

I'll be glad when Dak deal is done and this non sense comes to an end.

Yeah, it'll change to everything being the fault of paying Dak too much. Even if he isn't paid anywhere near the $40m/year twitter rumor number everyone here treats as gospel, people will act like his contract caused everything from spilling their beer last night to the return of ISIS and COVID-19.

Except for this....

Any team giving up that much draft capital is going to want him signed long term beforehand, which would require Prescott agreeing to go to a place like Jacksonville....which is doubtful.

He can hold his ground, then you're not getting two firsts for a one year player who may not even report.

There seems to be this perception that the franchise tag situation can be turned into a trade without the full knowledge and cooperation of the player, and unless you're willing to accept pennies on the dollar in return, it cannot. Even in that case it may be difficult.

The easy way to capitalize in this manner would have been the use of the non exclusive tag, but the team chose to not go that route. They want the player, not picks.

They could give his agent permission to seek a trade, but that would be difficult to pull off, and Jerry doesnt play hardball with players because he wants to be liked...not to mention the small issue of the fact that he doesnt want to trade him.

Are you that sure we can get two firsts? I'm not. Teams are hungry for quarterbacks, but two firsts is a lot. We know from personal experience when Jerry foolishly gave up two firsts for Joey Galloway, and it really hurt.

Hahaha! Believe me I am a Dak fan. But not at close to $40,000,000 a year.

Do we get such a drop off in talent doing this?

3 - 1st rounds picks in 2021 draft plus all of those comp picks.

Opposing teams do not respect Cam's game? His ability?
People think Dak is inaccurate, yet you are proposing going after a career 59% completion QB??

What team has two first round picks next year that want to trade both of them for Dak? I would think you would get a first rounder for two different years, not two in one year about the only teams I see with two are the Jags and the Dolphins, one just drafted their QB and the other is in the tank for Lawrence. (Not that you are getting two firsts for him anyway)

As for the rest of it...

yeah just weird all around. The “two firsts” talk stems from the compensation required when another team signs Dak while under the non-exclusive tag. Problem being that’s not the tag that was placed on him, and he hasn’t signed the tag period. Also despite being a young (imo) stud, the landscape right now is shaking out to show that not only would another team not trade for him but I question what he would fetch on the open market in general. Teddy got 20, Jameis got 1 as a backup, mariota is a backup, Cam is unsigned, and pretty much every team in need of a qb either had one, drafted one or had a plan in place, with the only exception being NE but they’re always a wild card. So yeah, pipe dream at best, and feels like both Dak and the Cowboys are reaching a point where things are getting less rosy by the day

One thing that people need to learn about Dak and QB's like him....you don't suddenly learn to be accurate. He couldn't even hit The Clapping Carrot in the hands from 12 yards playing catch....much less hit his receivers in stride.

this is a silly and simplistic take. Then the audacity to say others need to learn lol.

Cam is 1 of the variables in this proposed whole equation. I didn't complain about Dak's accuracy. I bet Cam's accuracy would improve having the weapons at his disposal we have in this offense and a better o-line.

Hopefully we can sign Dak and get him into camp to learn this new offense. Hopefully we can sign Dak period but it has been 2 years of negotiating now and although I believe Dak is not going anywhere what if we are presented with this as an option including those draft picks and cap space?

it's not about the AAV. It's about 4 vs 5 or more years.

Really hard for me to believe 1 year doesn't get it done. Someone MIGHT say that but probably hiding some other reason. I don;t rightly know what it is...but Stifled over just one year? Odd.

Don't you think your scenario is a bit too...ideal. Like they say if it sounds too good to be true, it probably ain't.

To me the ideal situation is Dak is already signed. But yes, if we could get something like this done do we pull the trigger? Because it would be quite a haul especially if we couldn't get Mr. Prescott to sign.
