With gyms closed for the foreseeable future, anyone been investing in a home gym?

All I have are a few pair of light dumbbells, a band, ab roller, and a pull up bar. Been having to get really creative to hit all body parts. Want to get a set of adjustable dumbbells, but people are price gouging like a mofo.

Curious to know what other people are doing to stay fit.

I don't lift weights but I have an elliptical, a pull up bar, and a abcoaster at home. I've also created have a 4,000 step walking pattern, with two jogging segments, through my neighborhood to help out.

Not ingesting any sugary snacks or sugary drinks and very little meat, here lately. I've lost 35 pounds since February 27. I still have about 12 more pounds I'd like to lose.

Head up to your local DIY store and build your own dumbells / other workout equipment.

A hell of a lot cheaper!

I find your diet suspect. Some type of conspiracy of brewing I know it!

The only conspiracy brewing here is my love for bacon. If it wasn't for bacon I could be a vegetarian. Bacon and COVID don't mix, that's why its killing more men then women. So spread the word....bacon kills.

More for me. Ha.ha.ha ha........

Yeah I've seen people make their own power racks and dumbbell racks this way. Definitely a smart way to save some $$$.

Funny, just bought one off of somebody about a week ago. Got a great deal. It is a pretty big Weider home gym set up. It is currently in pieces in the garage as I decided to re-do my garage. Pulled everything out and painted the walls/ceiling and then I did an epoxy floor. Just got everything back in last night and now time to get the gym together (man I really hope I remember how it goes back together haha) and things situated.

It looks very similar to this.

My opinion, people didn't start going to gyms to actually work out till maybe the 90s? Gyms used to be a stale room where you didn't really talk much. You might encourage your lifting partner but your focus was on getting stronger or, in certain sports, getting bigger. That changed somewhere along the way and now you have juice bars and co-ed fitness classes etc. It's a social thing now. It's a local watering hole but instead of a cold beer, it's a juice bar or some such.

They will come back as soon as people can take masks off IMO.

Picked up a Hoist V3 and Precor Elliptical when we retired, a little pricey but they should last a lifetime. Leslie Sansone has some excellent one and two mile walk DVDs.

I have a garage gym in a small single car garage.

1 Fit wonder Squat rack with pullup bar
2 oly barbells
~325 lbs in bumber plates
5-6 sets of dumbbells
4 sets of kettle bells
occlusion bands
adjustable bench
weighted vest

Just invested in some brooks running shoes for outside jogs. I can get a pretty good workout with all of this.
