Personally, this is shocking to me since they gave Jarwin a fairly hefty extension and brought in Blake Bell.

Also odd since right now the candidates for RDE are Crawford, a player who has been out for 4 years, a player who has been out for a year and a 5th round rookie.

With all the talent we have at receiver, we dont need an all pro tightend. Cooper Gallup and even possibly Lamb could all get 1000 yards in the same season if we use last year as a stepping stone and cut down the penalties. I know Cobb left a good 400 yards on the field because his big gains were called back because of penalties and that's just him alone. Jarwin is a solid TE and with Cooper Gallup and now Lamb , he will be wide open. He just needs to study Wittens saavy of creating and/or finding the weak spots in zone coverage.

Exactly. Witten is no longer here to suck the life out of this offense. Jarwin is going to get all the reps in camp and practice with the first team. He now knows his role on this team. He can get down the field and stretch the field. I am excited. Witten has been washed up for years but Garrett played favorites with him and allowed him to get majority of the snaps no matter what. Dak too often looked to Witten as the checkdown because he was always open. The defenses never bothered to cover him. The 3 yard checkdowns were a beating and did nothing for us.

I'll never understand why many fans undervalue Jarwin.

He just needs to establish himself.

Good TE’s are difficult to find..

I don’t know the last time a 1st round TE was taken and that team got their return on investment.

If TE is the biggest hole we have then I feel pretty damn good about this teams chances. I don't expect Jarwin or Bell to be all pros I just expect them to go out and do their jobs to help move the chains. The big playmakers in Cooper, Gallup, Lamb and Zeke should be more than enough fire power to put up points.

Jarwin can catch, but can't block. Schultz can't block either, so cut him. Soooo, beef up Dez, and give him a shot at TE.

Genius idea

I think Jarwin is fine. With the WR corp they have the Cowboys aren't going to need two receiving TEs on the field at the same time.

The weakness is the TE depth. If Jarwin goes down there's not much behind him.

I have no problems with any of the TEs, and some vet might show up on wire down the line if the depth isn't satisfactory.

I'm good with where the team is at if Chris was indeed battling a prohibitive injury, but still go get King or Turk to battle him.

Still expecting some fall out in CHI and/or TB b/c of their TE additions at the top of their depth charts, and thus some other options coming on the radar screen at some point. Like practically everyone else, I'm feeling relatively certain that Schultz' spot is vulnerable.

Jawin is a JAG to every other team in the league. This team has a propensity to fall in love with the familiar b/c we don't have a GM hustling to understand what else is out there and how our players stack up. The signing of Jarwin was literally a bidding war against ourselves.

agree bc how will a D cover Gallup, Lamb, and Coop? Then account for Zeke or Pollard out of the backfield...Jarwin instantly becomes the forgotten man...and he won’t fall down at five yards like Witten did LOL.

I’d say S and DE over TE although all are more of ?s than “holes”...
DE: what if Alden and RG come back and come back strong? Maybe Armstrong turns it up...Jelks, other?
S: Woods is pretty good, what if Donovan actually gets to play and makes the plays he made last preseason? Ha-Ha is also in the fold...
TE: I think Jarwin will be good, not sure we even need much more with all the other weapons we have. Novacek nearly made the HoF from being an offensive afterthought surrounded by much better options and defenses forgetting about Him...lol

I would agree at TE,, look to the Bears cuts for help there... take from the hoarders,, its easy.

I like Jarwin a lot and think he has potential to have a huge year for us.

I still would have liked for us to have looked to the draft for some other options although it appears we were high on McKeon and had considered drafting him in the 5th round had Anae not been there.

So maybe they see something in him that I'm missing?
I wouldn't say huge year, but J does at least carry the role for the moment, maybe he steps it up.
I do believe and have a bit of insurance that we will be investing in the TE dept in the very near future,, rest assured.

Jarwin is a bit of an unknown as TE1. Based on his deal, they are ok with him in that role.

Cowboys still need a TE2. Blake Bell is garbage.

  1. The Dallas Cowboys have one quality edge-rusher in DeMarcus Lawrence. After losing Robert Quinn in free agency, however, they have a need for a second one.

Quinn was responsible for 11.5 sacks in 2019 and signed with Chicago this offseason.

In the draft, Dallas did not add an edge-defender until it selected Utah's Bradlee Anae in the fifth round. The Cowboys also signed undrafted free agent and UAB product Garrett Marino and brought in Aldon Smith. Smith, though, is suspended and hasn't played a game since the 2015 season.

There's no guarantee that Smith will be reinstated or that Anae or Marino will become an early impact player. If Dallas hopes to be a contender in 2020, it should be after a veteran free agent like Jadeveon Clowney or Everson Griffen.

    (to be seen)

People are harsh on Haha Clinton-Dix. He was a 1st round pick, went to a pro-bowl, has never missed a start and is coming off a solid season. He's a little awkward tackling but he's still a good player.

and yet it had to be a reason why someone with that pedigree and resume came so cheap and without much big demand for his services in free agency.
Same case as when he signed a one year deal with the Bears last year.
He's not the best of tacklers and that goes for Xavier Woods as well.
But just like Woods, the Cowboys are hoping Ha ha makes an impact in creating turnovers.
