You made some great points and have convinced me that Dak will sign the Franchise tag.

But I will say this: Mike has been studying NFL talent for the last year. He knows who Dak is & He knows who Andy is. There will be an open competition for tge starting Job.

May the best man win

Yes McCarthy knows and what he knows is Dalton's play has slide for the past couple of years. You're only fooling yourself if you really think there will be any real competition for the starting job. Do you really think McCarthy who has said how excited he was to be working with Prescott would really sit a QB that is costing the team 31 mil for a QB they're paying 3 mil or less than one tenth of Prescott?

I think Dak is much smarter than that. There is no football activity right now, why does Dak need to get a deal done? Once it is determined that players and coaches can get together and hold organized, team activities, the Dak Drama will quickly end. The dude is going to make north of $30MM/ year with over $100MM up front for 4 years of work. Not a bad gig. Don't believe for one minute Dak doesn't see the opportunity cost of not signing with the Cowboys. Probably another $30MM - $50MM over those same 4 years. Oh, and the investment in talent both in the huddle and on the sideline. Bet he speaks with McCarthy frequently and can't wait to get back into the sports end of football.

Absolutely a most sensible post.

Essentially $$$$$$$$$$ talks and all that other "pride" stuff is dumb! That's the 'Merican way !

You have absolutely no idea how Mike feels about Dalton. And the comment about being excited to work with Dak was when he was 1st hired.

Dak will never take a lowball offer from America’s team that comes with media headache, especially with big guns like ESPN coming after you 24/7.

Dak also wants to prove a point that his mental fortitude is better than Jerry and he will always one up him. Dak will make Jerry pay regardless either in the pocket books or DYIING WITHOUT WINNING ANOTHER SUPER BOWL.

is this a joke?

Please Jerry please sign Dak, meet on the middle so we can stop the threads and have to answer crazy threads about how much they shouldn't have paid him. I swear people that don't like Dak must secretly be Eagle or Giant fans.

You're right about how McCarthy feels and yes McCarthy did say that when he was hired and then a month later too. Somehow I just don't think, yes my opinion, that McCarthy's enthusiasm died when the Cowboys coughed up a measly 3 mil for Dalton. I'll use a common sense approach to this. Sitting a QB the team is pay a minimum of 31 mil if he signs the tag offer and starting the QB that makes less than one tenth of the other QB. Just how long will Jerry put up with that considering Jerry, Stephen and McCarthy has said that Prescott is their QB for now and the future?

Good. Hopefully he does just just. I wouldn't even pay him 15 mil to stay and start.

Oh boy a big announcement that most said would happen when Dalton was signed. Rush's release has less than zero to do with any big reason for signing Dalton other than a 1 year insurance policy. Rush got into games late and has a grand total 3 regular season pass attempts, 1 catch for a whooping 2 yards and you think there's some surprise there?
Says you. And who are you? NOBODY that;s who. NO...BODY. Just another stupid idiot on the internet who thinks their opinion matters...like the rest of us/

hahaha this made me laugh so hard.
Well good for you for being such a great fan of the dallas cowboys.

Dak got handed a juggernaut from injury...then kept it out of superstition...then choked....and all you can do is be amused. SO HARD.

And people say Dak hate is insanity....."lol this makes me laugh so hard".

I personally think Dak is an idiot for taking such bad advice... he is nowhere NEAR as good as Aikman, Romo etc... I hope he is gone
Romo really? Dak has to win one more playoff game and he is tied with Romo. I loved Romo but lets not go crazy.
I mean we had what 3 straight 8-8 seasons with Romo at QB. We have 1 8 and 8 season with Dak and the world goes crazy. lol

I think Romo was also held back by the clapper and his crappy coaching... do you agree?

It might be interesting to see how things go in TC with Dak and Andy's performances being so closely examined. Nothing would change in the event that Dak looks better than Andy. OTOH, if the reverse seems obvious or even possible, Dak's bargaining power would suffer accordingly. It seems Andy has little to lose and much to gain in such a scenario. The Joneses wouldn't dare say so but it's very likely that idea has occurred to them.
