Might be old news, but NFL.com is projecting

One each in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth rounds.
So that includes losing seven unrestricted free agents (Byron Jones, Robert Quinn, Jason Witten, Maliek Collins, Jeff Heath, Randall Cobb and Xavier Su'a-Filo) and signing the likes of McCoy, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Greg Zuerlein.

Now if we can just stop trading away future draft picks ill be happy.
I'm fine with low round trades in this draft comp era. Generally you only have so may spots on your teams for rookies.
6th and 7th rounders on deep teams are at beat practice squad-ers 90% of the time.
Round 3 and 4 trades tho hurt a bit more. Those are NFL guys if you can draft.

Trading late round futures can be really smart business....especially given that we often have comp picks to back fill.

For example, Moving up ahead of at least 4 teams that may've taken Tyler Biadsz to get who could be our future long term starting term center, and only using a 2021 5th to do it, was a great move.

Are the performance and playing time of the players involved no longer factors?

I think they were at one point but I could be wrong.

The formula at one time went beyond the contract terms.

In a year where you have only 1 pick a round it does suck to lose entire rounds.
Going 60 or so picks is bad, 100 picks would be brutal...
If we only had 5 picks next year total that would not be fun but 9 picks(1 each round) and heavy in the middle is pretty darn sexy.

I am not sure we would have much use for the extra 6th next year and extra 5th is probably superfluous given how many we'd have total.

I don't think more than 6 or 7 rookies make the active roster next year.
I wouldn't have really wanted 11 picks.

Having 11 picks allows you to be more aggressive in either moving up for a guy, or trading out and getting future picks. I'd prefer the flexibility that a setup like that allows you. Much easier to adapt.
