The Cowboys would be holding their rookie minicamp at The Star today if not for the coronavirus shutdown. Instead, their draft picks, including first-rounder CeeDee Lamb, and undrafted free agents can take part in the virtual meetings for the first time with coaches and begin learning the offense, defense and special teams playbooks.

Killer DL that gets pressure and disrupts the offense. On par with the 2015 Broncos. Do that and Dak won't have to take the next step. All the better if he does.

Let's hope that's long enough. Are you still in CC?
I
MODS, could we get a dating site too?
Like Ranching and others could really use it.
Cowboy trail companions could access it for fast frienships. Heh.

There is no argument, the key to 2020 is whether or not Dak can take the next step. If he does, there's already a Super Bowl caliber team in place and we'll all be very happy.
Dak playing at a higher level will help. BUT, he won 8 games with Garrett as HC, a defense that average at best and the worst special teams in the league. Garrett cost the Cowboys a couple of games and his inability to manage the kicker situation cost the Cowboys a couple of games.

That's it, we will develop the very best chicken on the market! I'll take thighs and mole sauces.:)

Until the team loses, I have a menu in place.

Both the defensive line and secondary have to take a defined step forward.

This linebacker group should be what connects them both and be the driving force. It should be dominant with the talent that starts.

Not as concerned over DL depth as I am LB.
Will be keeping a close eye on..
Luke Gifford
Ladarius Hamilton
Francis Bernard
Azur Kamara
We have virtually no intel at this point on them.
We do know what we have in Joe Thomas and Justin March.
A lot of unknowns at LB depth.

For the past several years, it seems the beginning of each new season was tainted by some off-field controversy: Zeke's holdout/ contract, Zeke's DV allegations, etc. This year it is Dak and his contract.

The key for me is getting everyone to camp, focused and no distractions... That and an improved defense.

Section, Section, Section, never start with "there is no argument" on this forum. Some can argue the sun is not hot.

Well, it is not hot until you touch it and get burned. Like when told as a kid, do not touch the stove, so you just have to check it out for yourself. :muttley:

There, I just had to say it. :D

THE is in big letters to accentuate the singularity of the topic of this thread, one key. One element that takes this team from a mid level team to an upper echelon NFC true contender for a 9th trip.

THE key for me is the most intriguing part of the team and one of the two major ?'s along with this secondary, the DL.

It is intriguing because of the unknowns that have been knowns in the past. Lawrence has a down year in spite of having a good pass rusher on the other end, McCoy and Poe are past performers but have more years on them, Gregory showed some flash when he last played in spite of having some issues of staying on his own side of the los until the ball is snapped but he did show something. Add to this Hill, the disappointment of 2019 and Gallimore, considered a good find at that pick.

Even if this offense isn't the top one in yards as it was in 2019, it is still formidable and balanced with as a good a set of skill position players as any team in the league. The offense should be plenty good enough to make the playoffs, if the defense doesn't give up too much.

That DL, that's the difference between a 9-7 team grabbing the 7th spot and a division winner fighting for the top spot. And I cannot think of a time in recent history where it was such an unknown going into the season.

OK, what's your one key between mediocrity and a shot at history?

Not sure what is unknown about the DL. It was unknown the past 8 years as all Dallas would do is bring in castoff scrubs from other teams and rotate them. This Dline is as good as we have had in a long time.

Those two big veteran DT's we signed in FA are well known players and what they have been able to do. Teams are going to have big time issues running on us and we will now get a push from the pass rush up the middle. 3rd round pick will just make us that much deeper at DT. Lawrence is primed for a huge rebound year. RDE is somewhat of a question mark, but with the numbers and skill of the guys there, I am not worried at all. For me, DL is now a strength of the team.

Secondary is the big mystery, but we have more talent and play making then we have in 10 years.

With MM and staff, I am no longer worried about underachieving. They are already making the most obvious changes on both sides of the ball. If we can stay healthy, this team will be a load every Sunday.

We will attack the weakness of defenses on offense and be unpredictable and aggressive. Redzone offense will be much improved which was a big problem last year because of both coaching and play calling.

Defense will be aggressive and they will mix it up to confuse the offense. We can expect more turnovers as well. Front seven is going to be incredible this year.
