Crazy how many guys haven’t been utilized correctly, careers altered forever at the hands of the JG era smh

Will be interesting to watch the Giants/Cowboys first game. Garrett will plan for a continuation of what Dallas used to do, and McCarthy/Nolan will throw a whole
new scheme at them...

I for one am waiting to see how the fans greet Red Head upon his first arrival in the stadium...

It seems to be the best alignment with available starters.
Im really concerned with LB depth, more than most here seem to be.
Wish this team would be actively pursuing some possible quality depth,, maybe there aren't any quality available FA acquisition prospects outside of Golden from the Giants that doesn't fit this scheme.
Could MM be looking at Jelks as upside depth?
Positional move?

I think the depth is good. 4-3 LB is at most 2.5 positions. Lee is a 3rd is very good depth. Thomas as the 4th is some extra buffer.

My main worry for depth isn't the quality of the depth, but the health of the *starters*. I have doubts about both Jaylon and LVE.

I think Jelks, Gregory, and others are looked at as 3-4 OLB depth. Looks like the defense will be going with a variety of front 7 looks, with more use of OLB tweeners who may rush or cover. This reduces the use of 4-3 LBs and the need for depth there.

I have to listen to it again but I thought LVE’s agent specifically mentioned he’s regained full range of motion he didn’t have for years and that LVE said he’s never felt better.

LVE’s missed tackle rate went from ~6% in 2018 to ~15% in 2019. There’s something to this that shouldn’t be glossed over.

Of course his agent is going to minimize LVE's health risks. It's his job to sell LVE. I wouldn't put any stock in what an agent has to say about his player's value.

Maybe they did correct a chronic issue, and he'll play better this year, but a fused disc is still a fused disc. More likely to cause problems than a health spine w/o surgical modifications.

LVE also had some weird vertigo thing going on last year. I think that was bumping up the missed tackles.

-Will be the Mike LB in new role.

-Mentioned the Saints game in terms of how his role will look. Less sideline to sideline use and more running through gaps in the front 7 to make plays. Will be relying more on McCoy and Poe to occupy blockers to let him be free to get downhill and make plays.

I’m liking it.
A guy who has had a history of medical issues, including neck, in college and the pros going to be playing a gap blasting LB role fighting through offensive linemen and deliverying blows atr the point of attack.

I loved it in his rookie year when he flashed the potential to be a pro-bowler but now I have to wonder if he'll make it to a second contract.

That could all be true, but he also could be simply telling the truth.

Am I the only one worried about our LB's? Don't get me wrong I love our unit but I try to be realistic and what I see is :

1. Jaylon - awesome at times but also runs like he cant bend his knees.
2. LVE - again awesome player with a neck problem. I'm not a Dr. I just play one on CZ and I'm not sure that's a thing you want to have at any position let alone LB.
3. Sean Lee - a total beast that seems to be made of rice paper and is no longer a spring chicken.

All 3 are well above average players that I do not expect to play an entire season. Sure they could, but I'm not holding my breath.

LVE and Jaylon both made it through the season in 2018. So why would you not hold your breath on that?

We had a bunch of idiots coaching this team and we wonder why we go 8-8 almost every dam year.

We won those 8 games simply due to talent level and that's it. Want proof?

6 of our 8 wins came against teams that drafted in the top 5 in last month's draft. We beat up on the trash teams and lost to all the good teams we played last year.

Makes me wonder, maybe Crawford will be more valuable used differently with the new staff. He was never a bad role player just not a scheme fit.

I would think the hope is to not have to use him at RDE. Of course, that depends on both Smith and Gregory getting reinstated and being able to hold down the position. If we're going to keep Crawford, he needs to be used inside in a rotation with McCoy or paired with him at times. Unless he's lost it due to his injury, his strength was always being too quick for interior blockers, which allows him to be somewhat disruptive and get some sacks.

Jaylon has a good history of availability but LVE and Lee cannot say the same. How many games can this trio remain intact?

I've said that I thought there really were two glaring problems with last season's linebacker play compared to the previous season.

(1)...that the DTs weren't as effective in keeping the O-linemen off of our LBs... and...

(2)... there had to be something wrong with LVE that we weren't hearing about.

For the most part, he was indeed not himself.
People that paid attention knew he wasn't right.
He tried playing through it but just wasn't very good.

Will be interesting seeing him at Mike.

A lot of abuse at the position but if he playing like he did his rookie season he will make All Pro.

Lee was an All Pro at WLB. He's not that guy anymore, but that's still likely his best position. LVE at MLB. Smith at SLB.
Frees up Jaylon to attack more and he is by far his best when coming forward.

Lee and LVE are both good in pass coverage when LVE can lift his arms above his head.

LVE is either going to kick *** or chew bubble gum. He's all out of chewing gum.

Hope some get the reference.

It's howling time again.

Now I need to watch a John Carpenter flick starring a certain pro wrestler.
Anyone trying to quote a coming-of-age movie that says alright, alright, alright is a poser.

His agent (who is also Aldon's agent) said that he was given a 4 out of 5 (combine medical check) on his neck and that his injury has been overblown. He also said he was needing the surgery for awhile to fix his stinger issues and also mentioned like Jane did that he couldn't use one of his arms last year when he played.

Garrett doesnt know enough to attempt to try that.

He will devise a simple offense and do the same things out of the same formation every time, and claim that's to keep it simple for the players, when it's really to keep it simple for himself because he is a fraud.

Only person I would trust to give a less honest opinion about LVE’s future than his agent would be his mom.
