So..

Been holding back on this just hoping this would get resolved but it isn't.

As I watch and read everything I saw a thread popup again today about Dak's brothers death.

That thread is not the reason for my post but it is in a way.

How do I say this without offending anybody? Hoping not to but here goes..

Dak is loyal to all of us and should be seen this way. Let me say why..

We have all read the stories about Dak and his mom and her tragic departure.

We have all seen seen Dak making commercials and including his family as extras.

Since his mom's death, Dak became the leader of his family. He has become its leader and best financial provider.

I have read how his mom struggled to raise the family and in the end passed the torch to Dak.

This contract for Dak represents everything he has worked for, endured and hoped for in his life. Everybody should understand this.

There is absolutely nothing wrong there.

I am going to leave the contract, money and fringe sidebar issues out of this post. You guys debate that stuff elsewhere.

But with the tragic passing of Dak's
brother, Dak has to be feeling even more pressure to provide for his brothers going forward as well as himself. As well as any family he maybe thinking of having.

He knows that as much as he is loyal to the Cowboys..he has to be loyal to his personal agendas.

All it takes is a single injury to end it all. Look at Smith in Washington. Probably never play again.

Not a pretty picture.

So Dak has choices. The team has choices.

I have been pegged as a Dak Hater regardless that I am not.

I am a Cowboy Lover.

And never again am I going to get negative about Dak on these contract issues.

I have been wrong and narrow minded and I ask forgiveness from all you guys who have found me wrong in the past.

Now I will reserve the right to complain if Dak goofs up in games, if he starts struggling with McCarthy, etc.

But I just want to enjoy our fandome and get thru this International Crisis as whole as possible.

I hope my post sits Ok with you and you and yours get back to normal as humanly possible.

Later.

Sorry but I don't see him as loyal to fans or the team. Most players aren't. By not having a contract worked out before the 2019 season can only hurt the team going forward. I don't know what the hold up was so I can't put blame on anyone specifically. But I don't think he has any problem playing for someone else as long as what he wants is met.

Oh sure.

He has options.

And I see why Dallas is doing their approach.

But like I said, for other threads.

This one is about trying to understand Dak.

Not the team or the many facets involved.

I am trying to understand the lowest common denominator.

Others will see it different.

I just will not rant anymore. Serves no purpose and detracts from enjoying the entire experience as a fan.

It’s not that complicated, he wants a mega deal especially considering he’s played for pennies for the last 4 years (a fact that many people overlook).

Why he hasn't jumped all over this deal is beyond me. I would say he took to many blows to the head but he plays behind one of the best OL and barely gets hit.....so I got nothing
Hey..

As Ralph Cramden in the Honeymooners would say..

Zip boom..Alice. One of these days to the moon Alice.

Too many head taps, huh?

Pretty simple. Because he doesnt want to be underpaid in 5 years after new money from CBA/TV deals changes the market. You will probably see Watson sign for 40 million and the cost of QB's will rise from there

What we as fans forget (or ignore) in this day and age, the NFL is business first, entertainment second, and a competitive sport 3rd. The first is centered around increasing the riches of the owners, players, and coaches. The second and third are centered on playing on the psyche of the fan to make sure they spend their money to ensure point #1. Fans are disillusioned into believing the first priority is the competitive nature of the sport... When in reality that is no longer the primary purpose. Making money is the real purpose just like any other reality TV show.

Let me see here... if he made $30 mil a season, plus whatever he makes outside of the team, he can't provide for his family for the rest of his life off 1 yr of income?
Then these people really do live way beyond their means, and live in a fantasy world. Even if you give the government 30% of about $40mil... you have $28mil.
If you have $28mil in hand, and you can't live the rest of your life, and provide for your family... you really should not be allowed to have money. You can live off
the investments from that point lol.

So you can't afford a $12mil home, and pay the people that you would need to take care of that home... that is a real big deal right there lol.

You can definitely afford a $500k home and take care of it yourself lol.

Not just Dak, basically talking about all these athletes and owners, etc... we live in a society of morons. Most of the people on the field have little to no skills at all besides being an athlete. We really screwed up
as a society, when we let these people running sports, and playing sports become so powerful and rich.

30+ million for average play is now "underpaid". Really?

For the record...I get it...average QB get a LOT of money and it rises with every stupid contract JUST like this one.

I guess I am just getting old but I just can't, or could care less about Dak's contract woes.

Guaranteed a 105 million dollars? To play a game? Just not something I am willing to waste my reality on.

I would rather talk about Cowboys football. Anything? Anything that is non related to DAK.

Yes, I double spaced just so the OP could read it.

The President of The Uniited States of America makes what? 500,000?

I get it...there's a LOT of perks! A lot like NFL players have.

You did double space but you didn't go on meaningless, endless, garbled rant. So.....UNLIKED!

Handed a super charged team. He was NOT #1 pick because the team sucked and gets the first pick. I know....why bring facts into your fantasy "fact". Right?

Oh look....a mid round "develop" QB was good enough to run this team....but we got on a win streak just like the vet QB could have done but we're not gonna give the BETTER vet QB his job back because of...superstition.

Mkay.

I said underpaid in 5 years.

And in five years he will have amassed AT LEAST 150 million dollars. Probably more like 200+ million by being a Dallas Cowboys superstar QB.

Close to a 1/4 billion dollars is suddenly "underpaid". Mkay. Cool.

Players have to look out for themselves and their families. Fans and teams only stay loyal to player for as long as they’re playing well.

So 30 million per year ....isn't... "looking out for family". Mkay.

We don’t know what exactly is being offered or has been offered. We can only go by what’s being reported. The hangup seems to be the length of the contract. Dak wants fewer years.

I care about the team and having good players on both sides of the ball. I'm not a Dak fan. I wasn't a Romo, Aikman or even a Staubach fan, though I liked them as I do Dak and most who have worn the star. I want what's best for the team first and foremost.
