What did you all expect Dak to do?

I'm not in the angry camp, but you're kind of glossing this over.
It sounds like he's being offered in the 33-35 range for 5 years, but will not accept it.
Very, very big difference from what you described.
Dak is satisfied with the price offered. It's the length of the contract which he has an issue with. This has been discussed and explained ad nauseum.

First I would like to say, I am not talking to the straight up “Dak haters” out there. If you hate Dak’s game you don’t really care what contact he signs you just want him gone. I get that. It’s your opinion and you have the right to have it. Whatever

I’m taking to those who appear to have an issue with Dak due to this whole contract dispute. I keep seeing these Dak threads pop up every day (I know, I know here’s another one) basically saying the same thing in different ways. As you all know and have seen, majority of these threads are designed to call Dak an average QB and bashing him for wanting top dollar money when he is no better then Andy Dalton. It’s amazing of variety of ways these statements are being made, I will give you all credit for that. Kudos

But my question is, what did you all expect Dak to do? I mean he is following the same formula all NFL players have followed since free agency has began in the NFL. I am seeing people bashing him for being greedy and not caring about his team or teammates. Were you all expecting him to sign for $25 million/year when his peers are signing for $30 million+? Is that what this is? Besides a certain QB who happens to be married to the richest supermodel in the world, who does that? Is there another starting caliber QB (besides what Brady DID) signing for less then their peers out there?

PS Tannehill and Bridgewater were both backups who took over starting jobs in the middle of the season. They don’t count as established starters.
Wanna know what's funny? When you say this thread isn't for the "Dak haters" and then proceed to address exactly what the "Dak haters" are saying!!!!!!!!!!

That's OK, I needed a giggle this morn!!

This is my opinion: both Jones and Dak’s agent know when they are going to sign, and both know what the numbers will be. This is the entertainment business and delaying the signing of the contract keeps the team and Dak in the news. Jerry loves the spotlight and keeping the Cowboys name as the leading click-bait in the media, and keeping Dak’s name in the news helps his endorsement opportunities in the future. Delaying this is a publicity win-win. Fan hand-wringing is part of that.

If dak had done something to prove his worth at this point, the fan base would be quite. Its bad timing. The potential is kind of there but, these fans have not been to a NFC championship game in a generation.

Dak does indeed have enough to get them there....

No matter how good the QB is, until he has accomplished a bench mark of something special he doesn't have the stamp of approval.

For me it is simple.. he is an AVERAGE QB that thinks his is better and is asking for alot of money.
He has ALOT TO PROVE YET... and he has not earned or won anything significant to be demanding more money
Your need to capitalize words and phrases is fascinating.

Combining two words into one is also fascinating.

Darkhound has a lot to prove with regards to grammar...

I think the only people who are angry are those who want Dak signed long term. Everyone else is happy enough with the current situation.

Yes... i think salaries are or have gone out of control, but i guess that is what it is.
I for once hope we one day get real Quality QB.

Payton Manning's contract signed in 2004 would be 35M in 2020 based on percent of salary cap.

Aikman's 1999 extension would be 32M in 2020 based on percent of salary cap.

Well, there you go.
Pretty sure you nailed the range that Dallas is offering. 32-35ish

I'm guessing the offer is 5 years, 165-180 mil with 110 guaranteed.
The problem is, it's still not enough.
I suspect Dak wants the same guaranteed money over 4 years plus a slightly higher (36-38?) per year salary.
