Is Jourdan Lewis going to be the odd man out?

Better question. Is Brown or Awuzie the odd man out? Lewis played better than both those 2 last year.

I know that Lewis has been a fan favorite. He didn't have the "length" the last coaching staff was looking for. All the CB's we picked up and drafted this year all seem to have the same height and wingspan.

So, what ends up happening with Lewis? Does he remain a backup? Does he change positions? I don't love him...but I certainly don't hate him. I honestly thought he might be trade bait during the draft.

I'm just curious what the rest of you think will happen with Lewis going forward.
He’ll be on the team and he’ll play a lot of snaps.

I don’t think there’s anything. To be worried about if you’re a Jourdan Lewis fan

I am ready to eat crow if Lewis sucks, but I'm also ready to cook some crow for others. This should be the season where he shows up, or not.

They are wisely setting up some outstanding position battles. Lewis has some dog in him to make up for his lack of size. I think he'll earn a spot.

If given a fair chance Lewis will win a starting CB job
That's going to be the issue. If given a fair chance.

I have a hard time thinking he can't find some time in the slot at LEAST. But I have a feeling Chido may be our slot.

I honestly thought even coming out of the draft our top 3 would be Anthony Brown, Chido and Lewis. Anthony Brown or Lewis in the slot. Then push Diggs and Reg slowly and by next season they are ready.

This team seems to be willing to go with the rooks and I have no problem with that if they are ready. I just can't see either being ready.

I believe Lewis is no more than our “dime” CB. I like him, but he is not a boundary CB in this press man system. He is too small to jam larger WRs at the line and to contest back shoulder or downfield sideline throws. Not saying he’s not a very talented CB, but he’s better in a zone or in the slot. However, I think the coaches have big plans for Awuzie as a S/slot CB. I believe we will see Dix and Awuzie as S. Diggs (or Brown early in the year) and Worley (until Robinson is ready) as boundary CBs. When we go nickel, I believe Woods comes in at SS and Awuzie moves down to the slot. Lewis sees the field only in Dime when we need a second slot CB.

The reason I think the coaches are sold on moving Awuzie to S/slot CB is because of McCarthy’s experience and success with Charles Woodson making the same move, and because of this... Awuzie made almost all of his big plays in college from slot CB.

He's underappreciated because of his height but he makes plays. From every interview I've seen him do, he is also one of the better character guys on the team.

Why are y’all posting that Brown is the odd man out lol dude just signed a 3 year extension. He’s the most entrenched starter we have. Unless there is a clear difference in performance or health, he’ll be one of the three starters week 1.

Brown regressed last year. He is mediocre. Hopefully he improves this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if both Awuzie/Lewis aren't resigned after the season. When a new staff comes in, they usually want to bring in or draft their own type of players. If they are going to resign one, I would think Awuzie is more likely to return. I like Lewis's ball skills, tackling ability, but I believe some overrate him as a player. He has his struggles in coverage at times. More of a slot, nickel CB that will need to fend off fierce competition to retain his role. I don't think this staff will even consider him as a boundary CB, especially implementing more of a press coverage scheme.

No, J. Lewis is our best Corner. P. Robinson has some work to do in my opinion to be on the Active Game roster.

Hope so Jordan Lewis sucks. He's actually ok in situations but not an every down CB. He allows too many completions

Since Chido played a lot of slot in college, why are you not considering him for the slot?

Well let me explain my background on Chido.

I'm a Chido fan.

I think he was average last season.

Its a contract year for Chido.

I believe we were going to get the best year out of him he's had in his career.

Also believe Chido did well now knowing our corners were basically being handicapped by the secondary coach.

Also love Jourdan Lewis.

I'd have Jourdan Lewis and Chido be our outside corners and Anthony Brown be our slot.
