You're hired as head of my HR! My profits will be through the roof! Product might suffer, but who cares!
I think 20 m is fair don't u? and spend the rest for other players in order to maintain a good roster

This part of that and that part of this...

Bottom line is this...$106 M guaranteed is top of league territory. The cap across the board, could drop 25% this next year due to franchise loss of revenue with live game money.

You gambling on cashing in then? I'm not

Next, the Cowboys know that in four years, the TV negotiations will re-enter the picture. The Cowboys have set their foot down for a little hedge from when that completely dominates salaries that will be necessary to retain as talented a team as they now have.

Very few people that have challenged the franchise tag two or more times, end up resigned...fact!

Even if an agent comes in chanting, 'I'm after your nuts,' he still has to advise or should advise, to the best of the interest of his client.

Loudest sounding item in this pictures, is the Cowboys and their players reap a ton of cash flow outside of the team playing. Right now, Dak Prescott pulls in about 5X his salary amount in endorsements. Being a Cowboy alone, isn't relative. Alright, if he pulls in $35 M, he gets about $160 M from non-football revenue. Really think that $195 M is what one wraps his marijuana in to smoke? No, it is highly relevant in relation to the fact that Jerry actually attempts to pay Prescott.

With Andy Dalton around, Dak has lost realistic advantage. The Cowboys could always move to a drafted quarterback next season, if Prescott DOESN'T smell the roses...

Romo was paid the higest GTD and Aikman was the highest paid period in 93 and 99.

If Fish report is true would be 5yr 175m. If the 106m GTD is true that would be 60% of his total contract GTD, That is ****. Lol Even if you go north of Goff and go high, and say its 115m, its still only 65% and that is still ****. Wentz got 84% of his total contract GTD and Goff got 82%. If they just go under that on Dak with 80% GTD it would be 140m GTD, far off from 106m or even 115.

If they want to reset that market back down to what Wilson got 76%, Rogers 73%, and give Dak under that with 70%, it would still be 123m GTD. Hell, Tannehill just got 77% and that would put Daks at 135m GTD. So unless the GTD is AT LEAST 123m GTD, its not worth Dak to sign a 5 yr deal

If Fish report is true and its a 35m a yr with 106m GTD and its just about they years, then that says Dak is fine with the 106m GTD but wants it on a 4yr deal, which is fair. Its under market(Goff&Wentz) on the % of GTD and under market on the $s. That would put the % at 75% which was the market was before Goff and Wentz deals and still lower % than what Tannehll just signed. Its lower in $s than Wilson, Wentz and Goff. So if hes ok with that, and from this report he is, just wants it on a 4yr deal not a 5, then the Cowboys are holding this up by wanting a 5yr deal that puts it way under market on the GTD.

Stop paying attention the "sexy" total contract number and avg annual. The 106m GTD on 5yr deal is pure ****. If he takes it on a 4yr deal, its still under market in both % of total contract GTD and the overall $s.
I’m a Dak fan. But that’s a lot of cap space.

When was Romo ever the highest paid player in the league?

Please list what season that was...………...and if you can find such a season, I suspect you cant, I theoretically would have been against that as well.

I kinda expect things like SB rings if a player wants to be the highest paid in the league.

The short answer to your question is No.

The long answer is No.

LOL noooooo. There are people on this forum that know a lot more about the cap and contracts than I do, Im always asking them questions. This is just simple math and common sense stuff. The commons sense part is, if you see 106m GTD, which is lower than Goff and Wentz, you should ask yourself, why would he take less than them on a 4yr contract, much less a 5. . Then people will see the 175m and say, that is why because its the biggest contract in nfl history. But if you look at GTD compared to total contract, you SHOULD see that is pretty ******. It already under market on a 4 yr deal, why would he sign it on a 5yr deal to make it even worse. BTW, when I say YOU, I dont mean actually you.

Like I said, there are people who know more than me about this stuff, so if any of them disagree Id be willing to listen and learn. Nothing wrong about learning and educating yourself. The one thing I wont listen to, is the talk of Wentz and Goff deals were done with years left on the contract so its not comparable. The Cowboys had a chance to get it done with a yr left on the old deal and they blew it. Agents arent looking at that way. Dak agent, or any agent, isnt going into the negotiations and saying to the owner, " look, we know this is all new money and there arent any years left for you to add it to. We will give a 5yr deal with 4yr money so you can make it look better, and make yourself and the fans feel better about themselves." Im sure agents do bring that up when there are years on the old deal. Im sure they try to sell to ownership that the new money looks like a lot but if you count the yrs left its really not that bad. Lol But all the years left does is make one party feel better about the deal. Agents go off new money, not new money added to old money and how it looks.
Bombs Bombs Bombs:clap::hammer: excellent again sir..sad to say the teams that is Ownership and media butt sniffers sale the fans Lazy GM talk and cheap owner babble.

Dak knows the new $$ is coming up in 4 years with tv deal. EVERYONE knows.. all new $$$ NBA stars played the owners and took one year deals till TV money deals came...revenue jumps!!! Pie gets bigger...
CAA aren't dummys Cowboys $$$ is green just like 31 other teams ....

I don't like it at all.

Your sentiment is 100% accurate but too bad we are not calling the shots. This team hasn't won a thing in a quarter of a century and decisions like this one underscore the reason why. Now we are going to be paying Dak $35M, Zeke $15M, and Cooper $20M. That's $70M on the offensive side of the ball with a QB that has a lot of question marks.

What about that Zeke guy? Doesn't he help score too or no?
For sure. I’m not a huge fan of the Zeke production after holdout either. If there is a difference between the two it’s that Zeke was almost unanimously considered a top 3 RB in the league. Dak is top 10 at best and if you judge by his actions during the negotiations, you would expect him to be on the Mahomes/Brady level.

None of these morons have the slightest idea what is going on in these negotiations. Why people keep thinking they do is beyond me. Dak and his agent aren’t talking. That leaves Stephen just running his mouth and changing the story every two weeks.

You did not ask me if I felt like he was a top 5 quarterback. You asked me did I feel like he should be paid like a top 5. That's what I'm saying yes to because I do feel like his ceiling is that of a top 5 quarterback. I'd say right now he's a top 10-12 quarterback. Depends who you ask. There are 4 or 5 guys you can argue are better or worse.

The point is though out of all the quarterbacks in his age group like Wentz, Goff, Watson, Mayfield, Mahomes, etc.? Mahomes is the only one who's better than him. So if you are telling me I'm getting one of the best young quarterbacks in the league at 26? I pay top 5 for that. Its not as black and white as getting paid based on how good you are.
Being honest Mahomes , Wentz and Watson is better

$35 mill a year and over $100 million guaranteed and the dude is saying "nah, not good enough".:omg:

Seriously, is there anybody on this board that thinks Dak is worth this type of coin? Being the highest paid player in the history of the entire NFL?

Dude has one playoff win...………..ONE PLAYOFF WIN!!!!!

I'm sorry, but Dak is not worth this much, he just aint. I like the guy, have his jersey I wear on gamedays, but no way in hell am I making Dak the highest paid player in the history of the league. Call me hater all you want, but dude aint worth it.
You realize a year from now that won’t matter right. Matt Ryan was once the “highest paid player in nfl history” too and now his deal looks like a bargain. You guys need to educate yourselves
