Thought exercise...presume we go five deep at the WR position for the gameday roster. Pick two WRs you would like to see fill-out the #4-5 spots:

Cedrick Wilson
Noah Brown
Devin Smith
Ventell Bryant
Jon’Vea Johnson
Tevin Jones
Kendrick Rogers

Honestly because I pull for all of our guys I want the 2 who show the most. I can't say I like one better than the other but the play on the field will not lie.

In this scenario is the team only keeping 5 or 6?

#4 Cedrick Wilson. Sort of fits the mold MM had in Green bay in terms of size. Talented(for depth), but injury prone so far

#5 is tough. If only 5, whoever is best at ST's. Brown/Bryant or any rookie that is willing to play gunner/KO teams

Rogers is probably best as a PS player this year.

the 4 and 5 WR comes down to special teams play and bringing something special to the table. I would say Devin Smith, because of his speed useful in 4 WR formations (probably 5% of total pass plays). Between Noah Brown and Cedric Wilson. I keep hearing Wilson is going to breakout and at some point, he has to show something...I like Brown, because of his blocking ability, special teams play and his bigger size, if they deploy him as a hybrid TE/WR specially in Moore's offense with all the pre-snap motion..... Johnson is got speed, but he has to show smoothing in preseason to replace smith.

Wilson and Brown. We need the 4th and 5th WRs to be solid special teamers and both of those guys are solid in that dept. Devin Smith is a decent WR-- but with the top 3 WRs we have on this roster-- I just don't see a spot for him unless on of those guys gets hurt (knock on wood).

I don’t know, but the #4 and #5 receivers may not yet be on this roster.

Cooper
Gallup
Lamb
Brown or Bryant as the ST player.
Devin Smith as the most experienced backup.
If 6: Wilson or Johnson/Rogers

The Cowboys carried 6 WRs on the 46 man roster for multiple games in 2018. The lineup in some of those games:
Cooper
Gallup
Beasley
Hurns
Brown
Lenoir

The Cowboys have carried 6 and sometimes 7 WRs on the 53 man roster in recent years.
2019: 6
2018: 7 for 7 games, 6 for the others.
2017: Started the season with 6. Finished with 7.

Green Bay in McCarthy's final season had 7 WRs on the 53 man roster.

NFL Games Active:
Cedrick Wilson: 6
Noah Brown: 21 with 3 starts
Devin Smith: 18 with 5 starts
Ventell Bryant: 12
Jon’Vea Johnson: Zero
Tevin Jones: 4
Kendrick Rogers: Zero

What a great problem to have.

Would like to see us throw Dez in camp to just see what happens though.

Devin Smith might be the elder in the room but 5 full seasons he has caught 15 balls.

Cedrick and Devin Smith.
ST contributor with the potential to be a rotational WR and our only pure deep threat.

Perfect additions to round out the WR core. WR6 will be exclusively a ST’er/reserve unless a UDFA makes it impossible to leave him off the roster.

https://cowboyszone.com/threads/4th-and-5th-wide-receivers-for-cowboys.457786/

i'll go back to this previously discussed 4th-5th WRs thread linked above:

and i'll maintain that either it will eventually be someone who is not on the roster yet, or a surprise emerger such as
- Jonvea Johnson
- Stephen Guidry, Miss. St
- Aaron Parker URI
- Kendrick Rogers TexA&M

i'm still iffy on Devin Smith, and Cedric Wilson is injury prone and his play speed doesn't
seem to fit Kellen Moore's preference. Maybe MM and WR coach Adam Henry may see him differently.
