Why rescind the tag? How is that good for the Cowboys? Like what..? I know Some fans love Dak and want the best for him but if you’re going to lose a player (with all the stats and promoting on this board some) you flip that! It’s just the Cowboys don’t seem to believe he is worth what many feel he’s worth. Just need to find a team that feels the same way the Dak fan club does.

Yep we need to offload Prescott and dupe a team in to trading for him.

I was thinking the Jaguars but they are seemingly tanking for Fields or Lawrence. Maybe the Bears after this season?

low ball? bahahahahahahhahahahahahahahah
So what do you think is fair? Do you think its fair for a player to say, well in 4 years salaries for a top 5 qb will be here, so I want to be paid like thT TODAY TO ENSURE i STAY NEAR THE TOP FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL YEARS?

So what, in your opinion, is fair to both sides?

I hear the Cowboys aren’t rescinding Dak’s franchise tag.:muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley::muttley:

If the Cowboys wanted to trade Dak, they would grant permission to another team to work out a contract with Dak.

Once Dak agree to the contract, he would sign the Franchise Tag and the Cowboys would then trade him.

Another team would want to have the contract worked out before giving up draft capital anyway; otherwise, Dak might holdout on them if they tried to play him under the Franchise Tag.

I already knew about this but didn't think it was worth mentioning because there is no way a team would give up what it would take to get Dak without a new deal in place. That would be the case whether Dak had signed the tag or not. Plus the whole point of people mentioning Dak can't be traded until he signs the tag is to point out Dak would have to be consulted through the process of a hypothetical trade, so the Cowboys can't just ship him wherever they want.

Mike Florio: Any chance the franchise tag is rescinded?
Stephen Jones: Absolutely not.

I'd say that's pretty emphatic. Dak is their guy. Starting QB now and of the future. Dak haters... stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

…..And he said it at least twice. So yeah, I'd say SJ meant what he said.

There were plenty who thought this was an option read the board. Someone even started a thread about the possibly.
They're not in touch with reality. Nobody wants him replaced as much as I do, and I knew it wasn't on the table.

Trust me there’s at least a couple of posters who want him replaced more than you do. Can’t understand why anyone would want him replaced by Andy Dalton or some of the other names that have come up. If anyone seriously thinks that some of the names that are coming up to replace Dak are a better option at QB aren’t in touch with reality.

Shocking news. But in other shocking news, the cap hit would be lower if they let him play under the tag.

I think he's slightly better than Dalton, but he isn't $20 million a year better than someone like Dalton. He's just nothing special, aside from stating healthy (which he's great at), he's just a guy. If Dak goes into this season under the tag, you won't hear any complaints from me.

He’s more than just a guy he has great intangibles including leadership and he has good command of the locker room. Those qualities are vital to winning a championship with a QB. There’s simply no better option available at QB. It’s not as simple as just drafting another QB and you end up with a better one.

The best scenario for both parties is the tag. If he really thinks he's an elite QB, he'll have no trouble getting paid even more next off-season because he'll put up an MVP-caliber season. If he continues being what he is, we win because we didn't lock ourselves in long-term.

IF you have ever been a part of a team, you know there are certain guys everyone loves having around. If that guy is the QB you might want to keep him around and not rock the boat.

I'm not a Dak is great fanboy, so kick that noise somewhere else. Just saying to a man those players love their QB and it don't matter what you or I think cause we not suiting up on Sundays.

Curious..... was Doug Williams one of those guys? Trent Dilfer? Dan Fouts? Geoff Hostettler? Typically, those QBs that are just LOVED by their guys, win. Pretty sure Phillip Rivers was one of those guys. He has won as many playoff games as Tony Romo.

IN the end, thats all bull****. Players play and execute or they dont. They dont play harder because they "Like," their QB. And if thats the case, boy, Id hate to see what our record was last year if they didnt like Dak.

If they were thinking about it, why would they announce it while they were still negotiating. That would make no sense.

We want him for a 1 year prove it deal, the franchise tag lets us do it cheaply. So yeah, either Dak sits for the year (and probably next year too) or he signs the tag. He really isn't in a strong position, especially after Dalton.
