Jason Garrett called the plays for Dallas from 2007-2012. Here is how the Cowboys offense ranked during those seasons:
  • 2007 - 3rd
  • 2008 - 13th
  • 2009 - 2nd
  • 2010 - 7th
  • 2011 - 11th
  • 2012 - 6th
Average NFL rank of Jason Garrett led offenses - 7th

After Garrett stopped calling the plays, here is how the Cowboys offenses were ranked the next 6 seasons:
  • 2013 - 16th
  • 2014 - 7th
  • 2015 - 22nd
  • 2016 - 5th
  • 2017 - 14th
  • 2018 - 22nd
Average NFL rank after Garrett stopped calling plays, and before Kellen Moore - 14th

Be careful what you wish for when gloating about Garrett led offenses. When he was calling the plays, the Cowboys were significantly better than when he wasn't calling the plays. And Garrett convinced the Giants to go all-in on drafting young offensive line talent this year to go along with a young QB and star RB. Obviously, Garrett was overmatched as a Head Coach. But he's a more than competent offensive coordinator.

And here's the reason Mike McCarthy retained Kellen Moore as his offensive coordinator:

Do you think JG pulls out all the stops and throws caution to the wind when the Giants play the Cowboys?
Abso-freaking-lutely.

Here's what's interesting: JG is pretty good at playing against his own division. I didn't say great, but pretty good.

That offense is about to get real good real quick. people can make fun of Garrett's offense all they want but your talking about an offense that with talent became one of the best. If they drafted the right offensive linemen with Barkley at Rb they are gonna be a tough offense.
I still think their O line will be light years behind us for another year or two but they should be slightly better at least with Thomas.

Solder still sucks, Hernandez regressed, they didn’t do anything with center, Zeitler was good but not as good as many thought and the RT they drafted is more of a project from my understanding.

They also have no true #1 receiver and the receivers they do have are on injury or one concussion from being out of the league, minus Slayton who surprised a lot of people. I was actually shocked and happy they didn’t address receiver in the draft or FA.

Overall, I do agree with you, I just don’t think it will happen this year.

I think our team's OL is not going to be that great this year. At least not "light years" ahead of them.
It was only a season ago, with Fred out that Dak was sacked well over 50 times.

If you looked at where the offense ranked in DVOA, it stayed pretty constant whether Garrett was calling the plays

It’s going to be awesome. No matter how it plays out.
Well, if the Giants bump out the Cowboys for the division because their offense was too mighty...
It's going to be amazing here, but really sucky out in the real.

We’re a much better team. If we don’t beat them handily like we have recently, something is wrong. But they’re quietly maki g good moves. I do think they’re closing the gap.

Garrett’s offense will probably be fine.

It’s not going to set the world on fire, but will likely be constantly above average.

the main variable is Daniel Jones. If Jones can operate in the offense like Romo did, they’ll be tough.

I say this knowing all the legit criticisms of his outdated offense and, yeah, I’m glad he’s not here

Good grief -- I don't know if Joe Judge should have admitted to that.
(Actually, I'm not too sure if he was bragging or complaining.) :muttley:

One thing is outlandishly likely to be the case; it will be predictable!

Looney at center where I think Dak had to make the protection calls, a rookie & Sua'Filo at LG.

Evan Engram’s talent will be wasted in the new Giants offense. Garrett’s dependency on in-line TEs virtually guarantees it.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Engram is dealt before the trade deadline at a fire sale rate, a la the Bears with Greg Olsen once they realized he was the square peg in Mike Martz’s round hole system.

I think a lot of that was on Dak not getting rid of the ball quick enough, hopefully they work on that, he still had plenty of time. Also, I have high hopes for our new center whenever he’s ready to go, he would have been a firs rounder IMO, maybe 2nd, without the shoulder injury. We still have 4 much better O linemen then they do.

Garret does not possess the intellectual capacity to adjust or learn anything new as evidenced by his failed, insipid offense here for 10 years. Is anyone really surprised???
Actually, I feel like he would insert a new wrinkle in his offense every off-season. Usually, they would be really good for 3-4 games until the defenses caught on. What Garrett was unable to do was adjust within the season. Maybe he'll be better at adjusting because now he only has to coordinate. It will be interesting to watch, for sure.
