Tyrone Crawford has been a regular starter in Dallas for the last few years, but he had surgery on both hips after appearing in four games during the 2019 season.

Crawford feels confident he’ll be able to make his case for playing time, however. He said he’s feeling “surprisingly” well at this point in the calendar and expects to continue feeling that way.

“Obviously, double hip surgery is nothing to play around with. But I’m feeling awesome, ready to go,” Crawford said, via the team’s website.

trade bait...any doubt he hops the next flight to LaGuardia if he's a June cut?
Love his heart but just reminds me of Greg Ellis just can't get right..

I'm sorry. Things were different a couple of months ago, and maybe they will still make him take a cut, but at this point it looks like Clowney can be had for like 1/12 and Griffen even less.

The team has more than enough DTs and I cant see how you can justify paying Crawford 8M and watching those two sign elsewhere for not much more.

Yeah, yeah. Clowney is overrated. I get it.

You barely know Crawford is in the game when he is.
What am I missing? Why do many think Clowney will sign for cheap? Is there an article or quote from him saying he will take a one year deal for 12M? Last I heard he wants to break the bank.

...This value hasn’t stopped Crawford from being targeted as a potential salary cap casualty for several offseason. Now in the final year of his deal, Tyrone costs $9.1 million against Dallas’ cap and they would only have $1.1 million in dead money if he was cut.

Nevertheless, it’s mid-May and Tyrone Crawford is still a Cowboy. And believe it or not, his job security may have actually increased.

The departures of Robert Quinn and Maliek Collins in free agency created big voids on the defensive line. The Cowboys handled the tackle shortage with big-name signings in Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe, plus drafting Neville Gallimore in the 3rd Round of the 2020 Draft.

Defensive end hasn’t received the same attention. The Cowboys are taking big risks by hoping in the reinstatements of Randy Gregory and Aldon Smith. And while they did get a 5th-round steal in rookie Bradlee Anae, expecting immediate contribution from any Day 3 pick is not smart team building.

At this point, Tyrone Crawford is the insurance policy against all of Dallas’ rolls of the dice...

Yes, and in 10 years he'll be in an ESPN documentary crying how the NFL player played with his health.

I'd much favor the Cowboys trading Crawford (or letting him walk) and look to sign Everson Griffen instead.

The talent difference, alone, would very well be worth it and it would resolve our RDE need in a NY minute.

The Cowboys are committed to this particular play...but that is interesting alright.

No one but Tyrone knows whats best for Tyrone. He is underappreciated, IMO. If he wants to play post-hip surgery and he earns his time on the field then god bless him, go for it.

JAG cloaked as a good player thanks to his inflated salary and the team’s generational weakness on the DL. He needs to be cut.

We're just waiting to hear about Smith and Gregory. Once those guys are cleared and we see them actually in pads, then the trade Crawford talks start big time.

Younger? Stronger? Cheaper? Nah lets roll with the broke down 30 something cause we have grown to be buddies over the years. Lets pay him 5x market value while we are at it.
