Peter King: Dak would've been selected 1 in 2016 draft redo

Peter King's choices for Top 4 if draft was re-done:

1. Dak Prescott to Rams
2. Chris Jones to Eagles
3. Deforest Buckner to Chargers
4. Carson Wentz to Cowboys

Chris Simm's had Dak at #2:

I don't know why Ezekiel Elliott didn't make either guy's lists. I personally would've chosen Michael Thomas if Dak was already off the board in a fantasy redo situation.

What I'm trying to say here is.... nobody thinks Dak sucks in the real world and in the NFL media world except select members of this forum.

Look, I love Dak.

But if he’s half as amazing as the media is making him out to be now that they want him to get paid, then he better lead us to at least the NFC Championship game in the next couple years.

Especially since we’ve given him that o-line, Zeke, Cooper, Gallup and Lamb.

Zeke -- has not played a single game without Dak, we have no idea how good Zeke is outside of Dak...he could be...not saying he is...another Leonard Fournette outside of Dak

Cooper -- the same one that mostly everyone was against even trading a 1st round pick for? The one that mostly everyone thought would be wasted because Dak "can't throw anyways." The one that was going nowhere fast in Oakland playing with a "much better QB" in Derek Carr...that same Cooper?

Gallup -- 2nd year, 3rd round pick... That many had ranked as the 9-11 best WR in his draft class? If this were Tony Romo, people would be screaming that Tony MADE Gallup.

Lamb -- I not even sure if Lamb has even ran a route in practice yet as a pro.

It boggles me how much Cason Wentz *still* gets overrated by Cowboys fans. Dak’s simply outproduced him. He’s healthier. He’s doesn’t come with questionable leadership limitations. He’s a better player, all around.

I don't understand the love for Wentz on this board. I wouldn't trade Dak for Wentz. That would make zero sense to me. Some wonder why the Eagles selected Hurts... hmmm... Injuries? Reliability? I'm sure they just threw the pick away because they know Wentz is good for 16 games per season for the next 5 years. And Dak sucks anyway, right?

I have never been impressed by Wentz. I don't think he's a bad quarterback, but I just don't see the "specialness" in him that others do.

It has nothing to do with Dak for me nor that Wentz is on the Eagles. When you add in his injury history it just makes him even less special.

He makes some amazing throws. I think that’s what they see. But he makes some bad decisions, too. And decisions that have him taking big hits he’s proven he can’t afford. And whatever the whispers are about him not being loved in the locker room, There are enough of them that I believe there’s probably an issue of some sort there, too. Nothing huge, but he’s not beloved the way Foles was, that’s for sure.

There are several quarterbacks who make great throws though that are not great quarterback. Matthew Stafford makes great throws at various times, but I don't think he's great either.

Imagine if Dak’s teammates anonymously trashed him as often as Wentz’s teammates have anonymously trashed him.

Imagine how frequently Dak’s haters would bring THAT up. They conveniently slide it under the rug for Wentz, and that’s adorable of them!

But as far as on-the-field stuff goes....

Seasons ended with an injury:
Wentz: 3
Dak: 0

Playoff wins:
Wentz: 0
Dak 1

Career record:
Wentz: 32-24
Dak: 40-24

Career head-to-head:
Wentz: 3-4
Dak: 4-3

Career comp %:
Wentz: 63.8
Dak: 65.8

Career yds/attempt:
Wentz: 6.9
Dak: 7.6

Career AIR yds/attempt (so much for “dink and Dak”):
Wentz: 7.1
Dak: 7.8

Career yds/completion:
Wentz: 10.8
Dak: 11.6

Career passer rating:
Wentz: 92.7
Dak: 97.0

Career rush TD:
Wentz: 3
Dak: 21

Playoff pass yards:
Wentz: 3
Dak: 794

I think the more pertinent opinion is Simms not having Zeke in the top 10.

Not only did we take him top 5 but we gave him a giant second deal two years before his rookie deal was up. Double yikes. Now the same people that defended these types of moronic moves for the last few years are writing them off as "oh that was all Garrett and the old regime." For the Cowboys sake, I hope they are right.

So, selected that high, Dak can be labeled a bust four years later?:muttley:
