I'm not trying to get people to listen to anything other than the fact we do not know they details of what has or hasn't been offered or rejected. I'm not saying Dak should or shouldn't accept what has been offered, or that the team has or hasn't made a reasonable offer, because I recognize I don't know.
As for the "experts", they are just reporters, Being a reporter does not make a person an expert on what the Cowboys and Dak's agent are talking about behind closed doors, nor does it mean they are going by anything other than their own speculation. How many times have media reports proven to be unfounded? Don't forget that their goal is to sell their newspaper, magazine, tv or radio show. That doesn't require being accurate or an "expert" on a player's contract negotiation, it just requires putting out an idea that fans will latch onto - and often the more exaggerated or sensationalized that idea is, the more attention they get.
And, ultimately, if you choose to go with a media report, which one do you go by? The one that says Dak wants $35 million/ year, the one that says Dak wants $40 million per year, the ones that say the hangup is only on the years and not the money, the ones that say the Cowboys have promised Dalton a chance to start, or any of the other stories?
