The producers at fox and espn tell them to say outrageous idiotic things. Dan Orlosky admitted to it on the fan today. Which isnt shocking.

Correct... The more controversy and reaction they stirr up the better the ratings. It's the formula sports radio has been using for years. People around here hang on their every word as if it's the gospel.

Because each team would have the same cap.

Every team has highly paid players on massive deals with lots of guaranteed money.

The impact to each team would be about the same. You got me that it may not be exactly the same. But we are also putting the cart before the horse in thinking owners will want to let the salary cap drop
and be forced to decimate their own rosters.

It'll be interesting as all NFL owners don't get along. The big ones are usually on the same page, but as we've seen with previous CBA's and the Zeke investigation, you can have owners bickering at one another. And some have their net worths/only cash flow directly tied to the NFL team like Mark Davis. A bad season where there is a drop in revenue may have some of the owners demanding a reduction in cap.

In 2019 Dallas was 28th QB salary as a percentage of CAP
In 2019 with the tag Dallas jumped to 3rd.

But Dak wants a contract worth much more than the tag.

Uhm so would any human being of sound mind.

He did a lot of this when he played for Syracuse as well. Always unconditioned loser.
He certainly did ... at about the 10 against Virginia Tech.. lol.. his goofiest moment has to be him pounding on the glass at ATT

And some of you thought I was crazy when I said the people wanting us to sign Dak so bad, some fans included are just trolls, wanting to laugh at Jerry and see us ruined.

Handcuffed to a bum.

Fans that want Dak at any price have to be trolls or only Dak fans.

Misleading headline, plus, you are hanging on Skips always sensationalized comments that rarely resemble reality. Plus, fans aren't saying Dak should be paid at any price. Nobody here is advocating $40+ million per season, or $150 million guaranteed, or anything outlandish. You pretending otherwise is just a fabrication.

I should have ignored this thread when I realized Skippy was being leaned on for information. People who do that are the same people that believed the National Inquirer story on aliens taking over Ronald Regan's body and acting as president for 8 years.

Dak for 4 years at $30MM-$35MM/per isn't going to wreck anything. It's a blessing in disguise.
Tell it to Dak.

He does not want the above.

He wants Mahomes money before he has won anything.

This is what people have a hard time with. Normal people have to ask for a raise.

Either they get it or the boss says do this or that better and you can have the raise.

That is what is norm. This Dak foot stomping does not compute to most.

It is more like something for nothing.

How do you know that? Have Dak or the Cowboys said this? Most reports say it is the length of the contract that is the biggest sticking point, so if you want to believe something, why not that instead of believing Dak wants a monster deal that is dramatically higher than Wilson/Wentz et c..?.

Signing Prescott to 35M isn't going to wreck the cap any more than Lawrence for 21M, Cooper for 20M or Elliott for 15M or the 3 OL in the top 6 paid at their position.

The Dallas Cowboys do not build teams, they promote and market stars. Some feel Prescott should take less because he makes more endorsement money than any Cowboys player in history and that is exactly why Booger wants to keep him. Dak Prescott is not just a player, he is a product.

Of course every anti Cowboys fan wants them to pay him 35M but that doesn't mean some true fans are wrong for wanting the same thing.

Sometimes you just have to take a stand. If Dak's team wants less years with yearly salaries above $35MM, I would just franchise him for the next two years and look hard to develop a replacement. Of course, we really don't know what the negotiation dialogue has been.

I've got to think they have a ranking of Prescott with all the other QB1's and are trying to project value over how ever long they want the contract to be. We only know what they're leaking to the media.

The fact is they failed to take advantage of his affordable years as KC has with Mahomes and BAL has with Jackson. That is not his fault. He has still given them tremendous value for his salary and % of the cap. Time to pay the piper.

Now, they have to pay or do what you're suggesting and go shopping but these shoppers wanted Lynch and Cook before him. Anyone here want to send this brain trust QB shopping? They are among the worst in the league and need luck.

Hmm..

I guess I watch sports news programs.

Just turn one on. Now Emmittis saying take the contract Dak.

Its fair.

But you can complain about whether fans should listen to you or the experts paid to report.

Or not.

Maybe you should get a job doing this instead of free like you are now.

Life is unfair..no,?

Hey..

We all have to die sometime.

If the team has to die with Dak..

let it be with Jerrah's money..

not ours.

Jerrah has his mind made up.

Its not even interesting to me anymore.

Jerrah lives by..

"The ends justifies the means".

Pretty simple to me.

We all have watched it since the day he fired Landry.

I'm not trying to get people to listen to anything other than the fact we do not know they details of what has or hasn't been offered or rejected. I'm not saying Dak should or shouldn't accept what has been offered, or that the team has or hasn't made a reasonable offer, because I recognize I don't know.

As for the "experts", they are just reporters, Being a reporter does not make a person an expert on what the Cowboys and Dak's agent are talking about behind closed doors, nor does it mean they are going by anything other than their own speculation. How many times have media reports proven to be unfounded? Don't forget that their goal is to sell their newspaper, magazine, tv or radio show. That doesn't require being accurate or an "expert" on a player's contract negotiation, it just requires putting out an idea that fans will latch onto - and often the more exaggerated or sensationalized that idea is, the more attention they get.

And, ultimately, if you choose to go with a media report, which one do you go by? The one that says Dak wants $35 million/ year, the one that says Dak wants $40 million per year, the ones that say the hangup is only on the years and not the money, the ones that say the Cowboys have promised Dalton a chance to start, or any of the other stories?

Shannon Sharp should change his last name to Moron. Dak’s offer is more than fair. I want him signed, but not for $40 mil a year.

It's like Tarot cards, bro.

You shuffle the deck and start flipping.

Had a GF once who carried a deck in her purse.

She would consult them about everything. I was never really comfortable with it.

But sometimes she would get an answer which would be correct.

Same thing with those Magic Eight Ball as a kid.

Fun stuff..

So we all shape opinions. I very much liked my fortune teller friend. Lots of fringe benefits if I indulged her drama.

Same thing with media types. I spent 30+ years as a pro photog and knew many.

It is all about readership, first to break a story, etc. They can be spooky when its deadline day.

They will create anything for their editors to keep them.

Syndication is their Narvana.

Exactly, that stuff is crazy nonsense.

Its so obvious the aliens took over Bill Belichick.
