It is sort of weird timing about this.

Didnt he also get dumped from Dallas Cowboys Hour Show.

Him and Kristy What's Her Name?

Sour grapes for sure.

Hey..that 15 seconds of Fame as they say lasted a bit longer for him.

Meh..

Don't know. All we know for sure is Garrett ended up exactly where he wanted to be if the Cowboys let him go....(the Giants).

And not defending Jason (or not trying to), I think talent covered his butt more than a few times. And he never had the knack for motivating the team in the win or go home games. He lacked in firing guys up expecting talent to overcome everything else.

At the same time, NFL QBs never have been the best at being NFL coaches. Jim Harbaugh is considered the exception to the rule but looking at the list.....(through 2014)

Jim Harbaugh, Bears 2011-14 49ers 40-15-1 .723
John Rauch, N.Y. Bulldogs 1966-68 Raiders, ’69-70 Bills 40-28-2 .586
Frankie Albert, 49ers 1956-58 49ers 19-16-1 .542
Jason Garrett, Cowboys 2010-14 Cowboys 35-30-0 .538
Tom Flores, Raiders 1979-87 Raiders, ’92-94 Seahawks 97-87-0 .527
Allie Sherman, Eagles 1961-68 Giants 57-51-4 .527
Ted Marchibroda, Steelers 1975-79/’92-95 Colts,’96-98 Ravens 87-98-1 .470
Gary Kubiak, Broncos 2006-13 Texans 61-64-0 .488
Sam Wyche, Bengals 1984-91 Bengals, ’92-95 Bucs 84-107-0 .440
Harry Gilmer, Commanders 1965-66 Lions 10-16-2 .393
June Jones, Falcons 1994-96 Falcons, ’98 Chargers 22-36-0 .379
Steve Spurrier, 49ers 2002-03 Commanders 12-20-0 .375
Jim Zorn, Seahawks 2008-09 Commanders 12-20-0 .375
Kay Stephenson, Bills 1983-85 Bills 10-26-0 .278
Frank Filchock, Commanders 1960-61 Broncos 7-20-1 .268

Flores won two Super Bowls, Harbaugh, Rauch and Wyche got to Super Bowls, while Sherman had three NFL title games, and Marchibroda came within a Hail Mary of going to the Super Bowl in 1995 (a little trivia final play of the 1995 AFC Championship game was a Hail Mary by Jim Harbaugh which hit Aaron Bailey in the chest and fell to the turf before he could haul it in).

Even Hall of Fame QBs haven't been successful as NFL Head Coaches.....

Sammy Baugh, Commanders 1960-61 N.Y Titans, ’64 Oilers 18-24-0 .429
Bob Waterfield, Rams 1960-62 Rams 9-24-1 .279
Norm Van Brocklin, Rams 1961-66 Vikings, ’68-74 Falcons 66-100-7 .402
Otto Graham, Browns 1966-68 Commanders 17-22-3 .440
Bart Starr, Packers 1975-83 Packers 52-76-3 .408

(If you want to add the Saints’ Sean Payton (77-43, .642), a replacement quarterback during the ’87 strike, to this list, be my guest.)

He covered a lot of ground.
  • WRs now and future roles (Cowboys and league)
  • the passing game in general,
  • the NE team-building model,
  • CBs ,
  • Oline,
  • Dak before and now
  • Dak contract
  • Dline,
  • coaching philosophy overall and scheme-wise
Well done.

Many did not and sold him until the very end.

A few proclaimed "guaranteed Super Bowl victory!" when he was hired.

He was/is a huge fraud and it makes sense, the GM is one as well. One thing with fraud men is that they surround themselves with similar frauds.

4 is too many. I wonder how many packers spoke bad about mcarthy from their own mouth. No aaron Rodgers reports

4? I do t agree it’s too many after 10 years and 53 players per season, fist off.

As for players badmouthing McCarthy, you’d have to ask a packer fan which 5th string WR from nine seasons ago might have an axe to grind. Recently, as you mention, there was his HoF QB ignoring his play calls in the huddle. Other than that, the only other big story I remember is the unnamed player who say MM skipped team meetings I get massages. Both of which accusations are far more serious than anything Holley or TO had to say about Dallas.

Exactly, Garrett deserved to be fired but the guys who played on the team for years never say stuff like this. I don't watch the DFW media but I believe Holley has said shock job things before.

Its not hard to say Garrett was up and down but slightly above average when you average out his performance over ten years. There are very few NFL head coaches that are all good or all bad.
He’s a hack.

funny how you think Aikman a Gen-X will have a better feel for a bunch of millennial players in a locker room far away from his career in the booth:lmao2:

bruh this is not the 20th Century. Jesse Holley is more likely to get the current team (ps if you listen you know Jesse Holley is a Pro Athlete who talks to Cowboys Rookies after every draft for past couple of years) players pulse.

Troy was Garretts guy. Do you expect any player to tell Troy that Garrett had zero Jimmy Johnson fear...............by all accounts Witten was not a leader last year. He was appointed by Garrett but players had zero respect.....he left and came back average

How stupid can you be, whether a player is generation X, millennial or whatever has no bearing on whether he has the pulse. Jesse not talking to the players, they probably dont even know who he is. Now Aikman is a Garrett guy so what he says means nothing, yet you want to a nobody, the fact CURRENT players refute what Jesse says is telling. LOL @Jesse a pro athlete:lmao:

Many players have called out Garrett over the years. This is nothing new!!

And players have supported him, too, so I don't know what to file under disgruntled, what to file under blowing smoke. etc. It's more likely that like with any boss some didn't believe in him or like him and some were completely behind him. Some probably even fluctuated in their support/disdain.

Defenders have called him out, talking about how simplistic his offense was. Calling the plays before the balls snapped. Happened quite a bit. This isn't just about disgruntled players.

Which players will refute what Jesse Holley is saying? Please be specific. I don't play these generality games. It's really a stupid way to have a conversation.

Now, if you listen to the interview at 2:00:00 mark you'll hear Jesse tell a story of how Romo changed a vanilla Garrett play against 49ers in 2011 game..Tony changed play in huddle and told Jesse to run a Zpoker at audible. Miles Austin is the usual Z. He's out with hamstring. Holley makes winning play with perfect bomb from Romo.
How this story isn't precient and more informative than Troy or "one of the leaders" like Witten beats me....

Anyway enjoy your VHS .

Opposing players have been coming out left and right since 2008 saying they know exactly what's coming against Dallas, yet nothing was ever changed.

Their team philosophy was to disguise nothing, not to ever game plan against a specific opponent, never to attempt to disguise our own weakness, and never adjust during a game.

Maybe that sounds wonderful to some.of you, but when you factor in the results, the whole "work hard," "stack good days...." "We have to look at the tape and improve.." crap wasnt much more than that.

The guy failed. Period. You willing to wager he has success in NY and gets a HC job and prevails there?

Good for you if you are but Id advise not to risk the retirement on it.

I watched this video last night that LawNation posted and wanted to share it.. I know most of us are over talking about the freckled puppet but this video is a MUST SEE and has inside info that validates everything. (WATCH THE FIRST 30 MIN's)

Jesse Holley goes on to talk about Garrett's insecurities and how he pushed the narrative to fault of being the smartest guy in the room. In fact, he also said that the most NFL players are alpha males and see through someone whom is fake and this is why the team didn't sell out to win week after week. He believes that the players just didn't buy Jason Garrett as an authenticate leader of men. Basically, they all knew he was phony as a coach and this is why they ultimately failed under his tenure.

So much great stuff here to see and unfiltered! One of the best interviews I've seen.

I certainly don't agree with some things Holley says, but he was good here.

You guys bashing Holley....did you even listen to what he said?
He spoke intelligently about multiple topics.
The OP wanted to make this about Garrett but that was only a small fraction.

Also, just because Holley wasn't a great player doesn't mean he doesn't understand the game.
Most great coaches weren't great players either. Thats a silly concept.
